Sorry I've not contributed until now. Lot's of work to do (and it's Friday at 10 mins past beer o'clock and I'm still in the office).

Thanks to speedy for posting the updates. It's all to easy to rush a new product into production when you have the NT$ in your eyes. Speedy and his colleagues deserve much credit for their dedication in ensuring that every aspect of design and quality is 100%.

Thanks must also go to FPN members for their patience  .

So if I might want one of these pens, where is a good place to get one? Is there a store or just on Ebay?

Right now Ebay is their store. You're not buying second hand on Ebay when buying from the TWSBI store.

Their revamped web site looks like they're gearing up for their own online shop at some point (TBD, I imagine).

This thread is doing NOTHING for my self-control! (Who am I kidding...if I had a shred of self-control I wouldn't even be on this site!

My last purchase was my first TWSBI. No one has been able to pry it out of my hand since. I love love LOVE this thing! It replaced my Lamy Al-Star as my workhorse pen, and I am contemplating a B nib for the husband for Christmas.

But then I see the Baby Diamond - my husband was saying he wanted a pocket pen. And the 700...it might be a good choice for my first vac. And then you start whispering about a retractable? This is too much!

Speedy, much praise to you for your wonderful work. :notworthy1: Take all the time you need ironing out those problems. We will be here, prancing around like Labrador Retrievers waiting for a treat.

Best wishes from another happy customer...

Or not. I believe TWSBI is California based and Amazon just cut relations with all of its California based affiliates because of a bill to make online retailers based in CA charge sales tax.

from the picture, I don't think that was the crack, should be some kind of liquid dry out inside (the silicone we applied for mechanism??), you can try open it and clean it, if any problem, write me speedy@twsbi.com, I will send you a new screw cap.

Thanks for the info Speedy. I will take it apart sometime next week and try to get whatever it is cleaned out. Hopefully, I won't need a new cap.

Also, thanks for the generous offer as well.

Does this mean that my Diamond 530 is a Limited Edition???? :eureka:

No.

It means that they do not have the capability of meeting the demand for their pens, which surprises me as they are not aimed at the lowest tier of pens and yet there are pens in the range they aim at from a lot of reputable manufacturers.

I wish they were cheaper as I am intrieged to know what the TWSBI hype is. They look cheap, they are not cheap, yet everyone who has one loves them. I can't justify the price though to satisfy my curiousity.

With a Montblanc Avatar, what is a $40 pen you could easily resell? ;)

I'm sorry, but you strain credulity.

or maybe a pen we think as of being cheap in America turns out to be less of a good deal in a different country where there are extra shipping costs and VATs.

think very carefully before you accuse someone of having an agenda.

one of the main issue was lacquering of the PC barrels.

I was just rereading Speedy's update (*again* - I've got it bad...), and I just realized something. These are made of polycarbonate, right? (Do I understand correctly that that's what PC stands for?) Well, so is the Platinum Preppy - you know, the pen that Nathan includes free with some Noodlers inks because it doesn't react with ink as much as other materials? (Do I have that right?)

So.... Maybe I can use my new favorite ink (Noodler's Kung te-Cheng), or any of those other very cool "use in this pen only" Noodler's inks in a Diamond... :eureka:

Hmmm.... I think I'll try it with a cyan 530 I have. :hmm1:

The question I still have is this:

Will the new nib/feed sets be interchangeable between pens? Will I be able to use a nib set for a 540 or 700 or Mini-Diamond with my existing 530s? Will a 700 nib set work with a 540 or Mini? etc.

I think interchangeability of nibs would be a great added value to the new pens, nib sets, and the 530s that I already own. I suspect that others here may have the same question; if we could get an answer from Speedy, that would be awesome. Thanks.

For your first pen, you should buy a Pelikan m200 or a TWSBI 540.

For vintage, get a Parker Vacumatic or a 51.

Once you go Vac, you never go back.

Yes, I've been drinking.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
