Twsbi: Stop Holding Your Breath

Listings are back up I think, written as 530/540 nib replacements.

I'm not sure what happened though, but shipping has shot up like CRAZY. the Nibs are $20, but the shipping is $17 to Canada! When I picked up my B nib it was $4 shipping... I'm hoping its just an entry error!

Dozens of countries excluded too. I had no problem buying my 530 in the past but can't buy anymore, since Greece got excluded among half the planet. I'm very disappointed.

Ebay and Amazon are both selling TWSBI Diamond 540 and nib set. I have already bought my 'M'nib 540 this morning. There are less than 20 of each varient available with Ebay. Amazon has plenty. So stop holding breath and start ordering.

I wear my Pen as others do their Sword.

I like the TWSBI sales goals. These in particular:

  • For the pen to bring people together

  • For the pen to teach the user how to enjoy a slower-paced lifestyle

...the fountain pen is a great traditional writing instrument that is able to transport people into the more relaxing lifestyle of the past. As a result, the pen can teach its user to slow down, appreciate the little things, and enjoy life. Even the simple act of disassembling and reassembling the pen is an experience that can break its owner out of the monotonous cycle of fast-paced modern day life.

My preliminary report is that spending an hour disassembling and reassembling the pen has broken me out of the fast-paced monotonous modern day life, and transported me into the night life.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
