Looking forward to buying (at least) one of the small postable 540s :)

WB Speedy!

Wait, the 540 is going to be postable??? That's my only complaint about the 530; I'd be keeping it rather than waiting to hit my 30 posts to list it on the classifieds if only the 530 would post.

NO, the 540 share same outside as 530 so both of them are not recommended for posting, But Diamond mini (I think we should call it this name) you can post.

I like the name "Diamond Mini". Sign me up for at least one of each color.

Thanks, Speedy!

a larger nib on Vac? Does that mean the whole pen is a bit larger also? Maybe it has similar dimension as Pilot 823?

It is a larger pen, I don't have 823 by me so not sure, but

What about something that can have a numeral name to fit with the Diamond series so far... like: 545, 520, 550, or 540s ('s' being for 'small')?

There is a logic to that which I like. I also like Diamond Mini or Mini Diamond. It's Speedy's baby. They get to name it.

No kidding! The only question in determining how many to get is the final price.

speaking of the bottle, speedy, those blemishes are hardly enough for me not to buy them. if the plastics cannot be reshaped, sell the "bad" ones for a discount and save a total loss of the product. consider me first in line! love your work.

Hmm, I tend to agree here. I know some manufacturers would just dump it on the principle of not putting out "inferior" product and tarnishing their good name, but we all understand both the circumstances surrounding the bad batches, and what the quality of your end product really is. So it could turn out being less of a loss and waste to sell these off at a discount.

Uh oh. I hope I haven't violated any TWSBI policy but I almost always post my 530. I like the weight in the back of the pen.

Speedy, I like the spirit! I hope you stick to the policy of "the very best or nothing"! That is what makes us patiently wait for 540, 700 and the mini! Keep it up!

The question I still have is this:

Will the new nib/feed sets be interchangeable between pens? Will I be able to use a nib set for a 540 or 700 or Mini-Diamond with my existing 530s? Will a 700 nib set work with a 540 or Mini? etc.

I think interchangeability of nibs would be a great added value to the new pens, nib sets, and the 530s that I already own. I suspect that others here may have the same question; if we could get an answer from Speedy, that would be awesome. Thanks.

530/540 share the same size nib, but will have Schmidt version of early day and Bock version of later day, you can switch the whole unit between pens, but between these two version cannot just switch the nibs, must be the whole set.

V700 is larger size nib and mini is small size nib, so they are not interchangeable with 540.

wait, mini may share same Bock set 530/540 feeder and feeder housing?? I need to check.

Thanks for that info; I feel much better knowing that the nib sets will be interchangeable between the 530 and 540. If the nib sets from the 530/540 can be interchanged with those from the Mini, that would be ideal and also awesome. The difference in nib sets for the vac 700 is understandable. I really like the idea of a set of modular pen and nib sets. Having a system of pens and accessories that is essentially user-customizable by the end user without requiring major technical know-how or skill is pure genius. I think it fits very well with TWSBI's philosophy of having a modern, high-quality pen at a great price. The interchangeability adds value to what I consider to be an already exceptionally valuable product in terms of economy and utility. I'm no business man,and I'm sure that there are others who could articulate what I am trying to express far better than I can, but I figure that it's worth mentioning.

Also, may I suggest as a name for the Diamond Mini either of the following:

Diamond Mini 535, or

Diamond Mini 545

That's my two cents. Thanks again.

For your first pen, you should buy a Pelikan m200 or a TWSBI 540.

For vintage, get a Parker Vacumatic or a 51.

Once you go Vac, you never go back.

Yes, I've been drinking.

Thanks for the clarification, speedy. Where would I find pictures, dimensions and colors for the mini? How about the 700, will it be postable? Sorry to be a bother as I'm sure this has all had ample discussion before, it's just hard to find what with all of the TWSBI conversations and praise going on here at FPN.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
