Diamine Racing Green

.....

Why would Diamine go exclusively to one dealer, when RG could be sold everywhere?

Sorry to hear about your London Pen Show experience. Today's Hamburg Pen Show was grwat!

About the Racing Green: Actually it was the other way around. Rolf from Missing Pen got in touch with Diamine to get this bespoken color; similar like the Exclsive Noodler's inks.

Cheers

Michael

Yeah, wanted to underscore that I thought this was a project that Rolf (& Michael R ???) had undertaken to try and find a suitable replacement from either Noodler's or Diamine? If you are going to ask for a custom color because you want it, well then you get to choose and decide, but have to put up the money for a minimum quantity. FPN did the same thing with the 3 Noodler's inks. The risk is you get stuck with unsold bottles if people don't like it.

I want to say again, this Diamine Racing Green is a spectacular color, very well behaved and easily rinses from all of my expensive piston fillers. It is absolutely worth getting and using--standing on its own merit, even if it is not a perfect match for MB RG. There is the same pursuit trying to replicate Parker Penman Sapphire where some inks have come close on the color shade, but not with the exact color and performance profile.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Best is to ask Rolf himself, just send him an email, he is usually quick to reply and very helpful. He is single handedly (almost) to blame for the size of my ink collection. I want to make it clear, no affiliation, just a happy, and somewhat poorer, customer.

At Tilburg I saw the Racing Green, bought several bottles and I love to use it!

As Sam says, it is not an exact copy of MBRG, but can easily stand on its own merit. And yes, the easy cleaning is in my book a real bonus.

Thanks and I've sent him an e-mail. It's a colour I think I ought to try.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
