One Of The Ten - Blue Inks

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure how I missed this final comparison of The Ten.

This budding inkophile, at least, has found these reviews and comparisons very enlightening and useful.

Thanks for all the time and hard work! :clap1:

Thanks, Sandy1. I am a novice in this fantastic hobby, and just found your thread. Loved the way you compared and explained. I learnt heaps!

Thanks so much!

Great find! In case you haven't found them too already, note that Sandy also introduced her OOTTs for other colours as well...

I think we can make this thread active again. The photo bucket links still work. We would need to copy the entire URL then copy the photo, rename the photo and then edit the original post to add the photos.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That would be great! Also a nice way to remember some of Sandy1’s many contributions to this community.

Anyone know where @Sandy1 is?

I miss the reviews and contributions, I still refer back to her reviews very often.

I have sent her a p.m. and have not received a response. You too could PM her and perhaps get a reply.

In another thread it was informed that she passed away.

Oh gosh, that's very sad. That possibility occurred to me, but I was hoping she just lost interest.

I was keeping my eyes somewhat open on a new post or news, but obv don't read every thread, so missed this.

I considered that, but when someone hasn't logged in for years I wonder whether the pm reaches them at all (assuming the person just loses interest and doesn't participate in the forum).

🥺 She was my first real "guru" on here. I hung on her every word when I first got into the hobby and bought inks purely because she said they were good or had "majik".

I'm glad her expertise and memory will carry on among us.

If you can find that for me, I will notate her account.

That makes me sad, too. I used to PM her earlier (actually around 10 years ago) and IYAM she was always very interested in inks (more so than pens). She was often a long time away from home (in Britain), e.g. somewhere between Africa and the Far East. Yes, she made some of the most valuable and extensive reviews....

Okay, I fixed the images that are linked in this comparison.  I'm going to post in Inky Thoughts asking for help to save these images.

This is really sad news. Sandy1 was an amazing person, really funny, tireless in her appreciation of inks and super smart. I loved reading her reviews and valued her insights. Sandy1, you will always be loved and remembered! 💕

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
