I just noticed all the images are gone from my post, even though they're still in my 'attachments' collection. Maybe they got lost from the post in some migration of the forum software or something...

Anyway, just for the sake of keeping the archives sane, hereby a repost of my original post with images (even though my collection isn't the same anymore as it was 10 years ago -> it grew bigger!).

This is the fixed repost of

As promised, hereby some pictures of part of my collection. I had some trouble with the lighting so I don't believe the photos do my collection really any justice

Almost all of the pens are in mint condition, most even with original nib-size labels on them.

I bought most of the pens and related things on eBay, but also found some interesting pieces on pen fairs/shows in Holland and Germany.

My complete Carrera collection:

Zarus, thank you very much for taking the trouble to repost these images.  As someone new to Montblanc in general, I am always eager to learn, and your post has given me much new information to digest.  I very much enjoyed perusing the photos of this impressive portion of your (even larger now, you say?) collection.

Hi Zarus,

Thanks for re-posting the pictures. Your collection is phenomenal.

I primarily collect student and office pens and the Carrera is my favourite.  Its styling and yellow/ orange barrel of the standard version just screams 1970s.  I have about 15 Carreras, one Caressa set and one Monte Rosa.  I probably won't expand my collection further (he says, having previously vowed the same only to buy more) so it's great to be able to see your pictures.  I particularly like the paraphernalia that you've been able to obtain.  I've never seen the Carrera caps come up for sale.

A yellow-black Carrera fountain pen with a left-hand nib was the pen I used for several years during my elementary school period. I am probably going to purchase one for nostalgic reasons.

Funny that you mention that pen. I have a yellow & black MB 522 Carrera piston filler with LH nib. Probably one of my favorite pens.

I second that.

Wow that's quite a collection.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
