My Whole Esterbrook Collection!

Gobblecup

Recommended Posts

Hello gang!

It is time for me to move on, and let these neglected pens get around to other pen lovers! I priced these to sell quickly and I will not be giving much in the way of price reduction. If you have an offer, I will be happy to look at it, but these are all very nice, working, useable, Esterbrooks for sale at competitive prices. Where ever you see full working order that means the pen operates at it should, will fill and write, and has had a new sac installed recently. All but the last pen are in full working order!

I would love to sell these in a large group or a couple large groups, because shipping these is going to be a big job individually. If you want a large amount or all of the pens here, PM me and I will give you a quantity discount!

Shipping details can be found at the end of this listing, the listing is picture heavy and I tried to disclose every detail, flaw, etc. with each pen, please excuse my poor quality pictures!

1. Dubonnet Red J - Nib 2668 - Very smooth nib with a good amount of "tipping" left on the folded tip. This is my only working pen that has a bad cap jewel, but I will include a replacement jewel to be installed by the new owner. Otherwise it is in full working order, I replaced the sac. Cosmetically beautiful. A very vibrant Dubonnet Red.

2. Pearl Grey LJ - 1551 - A very smooth medium/fine point, feels much like most 2668's, only a bit finer. Was NOS and I have used it sparingly. The pen is in fully working order, cleaned and resacked by me. No major cosmetic flaws of any kind visible to me. It has a very attractive stripped pattern, and a spoon shaped lever. Near perfect.

3. Pearl Grey SJ - 9550 - NOS 9550 writes perfect and was just installed. This one is much like the LJ in appearance and condition. Only one minor flaw, a small nick on the upper cap. It could no doubt be gently removed. Same stripped pattern as the LJ, and same nice spoon shaped lever. Resacked and cleaned by me to full working order. It would make a nice set with the LJ.

4. Foliage Green SJ - 2668 - A nice buttery smooth 2668 with fairly good "tipping" left on the folded tip. Restored to full working order, and I buffed the barrel but not the cap. Looks nice and writes well. No major or minor cosmetic flaws.

5. Fern Green SJ - 9668 - A very nice nib, smooth and silky writing! Good tipping. No major nick, scratches, etc. A light darkened ring in the cap can be seen. I restored it to full working order. Very good clip, jewels are perfect. Nice SJ with one of the best nibs!

6. Copper Brown J - 2460 - This 2460 has worn into what I'd call a very smooth and wet Stub. Tipped? No but it writes nicely and uniquely. It also has the older style feed. This pen has been restored to full working order. It is one of the best looking of the bunch. No cosmetic flaws, and a brilliant brown copper colour. One of my favorite writers of the bunch!

7. Copper Brown J - 9550 - A bit worn and toothy compared to all the others, but there is still some tipping left. It reminds me of how my Aurora felt. Restored to full working order. This one took me allot of work, I replaced the cap jewel, the section and replaced the J bar along with the usual cleaning and resacking. I did buff this pen to nice glowing polish. It is in near perfect condition but the clip still wiggles a bit.

8. Cobalt Blue J - 9556 - Wonderful nib, plenty of good tipping left, a smooth writer. The pen has been restored to full working order, and cosmetically looks near mint, save a few very minor nicks. Great tight clip and perfect jewels!

9. Black Dollar Pen, 4.13/16" - 2550 - Smooth fine line, some scratches to the section (I didn't do it!), and a small chunk missing of a thread. I tried to catch this in the pictures. There is a little bit of shrinkage by the section and threads on the barrel. Otherwise this is a very nice Dollar pen, worked on in the UK by a "Reputable Repairer" and sold to me through Portugal. It is in full working order.

10. Black SJ - 2668 - Smooth sweet 2668 with a bit of a foot, but plenty of "tipping" left to the folded point. Plain and simple, this is a Black SJ that writes nicely and has been fully restored by me. No major or minor nicks or scratches to the body of the pen, only one small mark on the section. Great tight clip and full shiny jewels.

11. Black J - 9550 - An extra fine, still smooth and generous writer. This is a Richard Binder pen that I bought off his pen tray as my first Estie. I have only filled it twice since. So expect what you would expect from Richard binder. A fully restored Black J with a very nice nib!

Damn, these have been going fast. I would've wanted a red or pearl grey J but they're gone.

Good luck with the rest of them. :)

LAST UPDATE!!!

With the new classifieds opening I am going to end this sale at midnight CDT (-6 GMT) and relist the remaining pens. Until then I will offer a discounted price that will not remain when the items are relisted.

No. 7 is now $32 $27.00 + shipping

No. 9 is now $40 $35.00 + shipping

No. 10 is now $28 $25.00 + shipping

I am also adding a new item to the list, a Parker 45 with a very soft, slightly patinated, Fine 14k gold nib, blue in colour, with bi-color (Steel and and Gold plated) trim. It is an Aerometric filler, and the trim and barrel are free of brassing and only have micro-scratches from what I can see. The section has some shrinkage. The pen is working just fine and will be a great writer you wont have to worry about when on the go. - I am giving away a ball point to the next buyer, it will need a new cartridge, but has a pretty acrylic(?) swirl pattern!

My price: $25 shipped CONUS

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
