Platinum Mix Free Color Chart

Anyone else think this is a trap? If one is good, it will suck you into buying another one just to mix with the first one, and then you keep buying to make more colors, until you have the entire collection :glare: .

Was a time I'd have gone nuts with this collection and done just that. Don't really have the time or space anymore but I am really looking forward to hearing what everyone experiences with these.

Awww ... c'mon KCat ... you know you want just a few bottles. LOL

I was tempted until I saw $70 shipping. I'll wait for GouletPens to get it.

Thanks

Yeahhh... if you're in the US, you might as well just wait for it to be available here. It's not going to cost too much more here - around $180 - and shipping will obviously be much more reasonable. Plus by the time you get it from Japan (the eBay site estimates mid-July), it'll probably be available here! I don't have an exact date yet but I'll inquire again and let you all know.

It's a good thing I'm not buying pens and ink anymore or I'd be lusting after all of these to play with, and then I'd want to see if I could mix them with some Noodler's bulletproof or eternal inks  .

On a sacred quest for the perfect blue ink mixture!

So you've given up on finding your sacred quest?

Uh-oh... I'm in trouble, then. I will find a way to justify some more ink purchases...

Ink, like beauty, is its own justification.

Yay! They should be here late next week!!!

I'm so getting a complete set! :bunny01::bunny01::bunny01:

Not sure if these are shipping as a complete packaged kit, but have you been able to find out if individual bottles can separately be ordered? I'm thinking of a mustard-raspberry swirl. I wonder if you can put them on snow cones? :eureka:

Definitely can be. Even if all we get to start are complete sets, we'll split them up. I'm sure others would do the same!

I, for one, am very surprised. SamCapote has never before been known to buy ink.wink.gif

They are now available at a NYC retailer so I assume the Goulet's will have them very soon. In NYC only available as a mixing set which includes all the colors and what appears to be a simple set of mixing tools and a small jar or two (maybe to store said mixed ink).

I am looking forward to reports...

And as to whether I was surprised that Sam was buying a complete set...I was...I really thought he would be buying at least two sets! :notworthy1:

They're arriving on Tuesday (darn holiday weekend delivery schedule!).

Right now they're only in the US as the complete set, so it's up to the retailer to break them up only if they want to, until they start importing the bottles separately a few weeks from now.

Well I did tell Brian Goulet to reserve two sets, but I think I'm going to have him send me one so I can test drive it, and then likely will get the second set for Temple stock.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
