What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

A mix of blue inks ... which thankfully I haven't mixed together.

Rinsed out and used my finger to scrub out a Visconti travel inkpot with Iroshizuku ku-jaku. A beautifully behaved ink with lovely colour and shading but the ink sticks and is hard to flush out, even a Visconti open ended inkpot!

Then refilled a partially (mostly) empty MontBlanc Dumas with Aurora blue. Thus have both colours on my little fingers.

Try to decide what colour to fill next... hmm... eenie meenie .... (probably Tsuki-yo in an Aurora Optima but thinking out putting black back into the rotation)

In Rotation: MB 146 (EF), Noodler's Ahab bumblebee, Edison Pearl (F), Sailor ProGear (N-MF)

In storage: MB 149 (18k EF), TWSBI 540 (B), ST Dupont Olympio XL (EF), MB Dumas (B stub), Waterman Preface (ST), Edison Pearl (0.5mm CI), Noodler's Ahab clear, Pilot VP (M), Danitrio Densho (F), Aurora Optima (F), Lamy 2000 (F), Visconti Homo Sapiens (stub)

I have written with 4 different pens/inks today, and have NO ink on my hands. I really only had one problem pen in the drippiness department, and it has broken in another way, so good riddance.

Baystate Blue. My Noodler's piston filler made a beautiful mess on me today. But maybe I shouldn't blame the pen. Everyone knows the dangers of BSB.

what happened? did the pen fail or was it user error? did you post it, unpost it and accidentally twist the piston knob?

I'm not sure what happened. I was using it all day posting, capping, posting, capping. The end of pen is badly stained and so is the inside of the cap. It never actually leaked on me, it just doesn't seem to like being capped. This has never happened in the weeks I've had the pen.

I know they are pretty different designs, but the pen I referenced above that was a leaky disaster is a Noodler's ebonite. Just constantly was filling the cap with ink and flinging it on opening. Boooo.

That's not good news. I've been eying the ebonite

I haven't seen much info about them, but I'm pretty bummed. Like the feel, love how it writes, hate the fact that it makes a mess on everything.

dang. i just ordered one a few hours ago from swisher. the piston fill, black, and with a bottle of pel blue black to make it worth the shipping.

Just keep a tissue handy. It's a great pen, one of my favorites. When my co-worker today was lamenting the mess of blue on my hands I responded. "Yes, isn't it beautiful?" Just enjoy the pen...and don't use a real stainer like BSB.

I have both the piston and the ebonite Noodler's pens and I don't have ink leak issues with either. I did find that you really need to wipe off the piston filler well after filling because I was getting a lot of ink that would sneak back under the edge of the section and end up in the cap, I don't have that trouble anymore. I wouldn't be too worried, YMMV.

For a change - they are CLEAN!

Mine are the same way this morning sad.gif . I'm thinking of dismantling one of my pens just so I can get "inked up" again. tongue.gif

Refilled all my daily carry pens today, so there's Noodler's Legal Lapis, Diamine Monaco Red, and Parker Blue-Black all on my right index finger.

I just got the Legal Lapis this morning, it's great stuff. :)

Whatever dye they put in the sweet & sour dip at lunchtime. Inkermann's Wizard Prang, I think.

Smells nice, too.

J. Herbin Rouge Opera and Diamine Delamere Green. Either I got into fisticuffs with one of the cedars in the back yard, or I'm early for Christmas.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
