The Goulet Pen Company – A Very Positive Experience

Mont Blanc Collector

Recommended Posts

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to renew it with positive feedback. I place an order on Saturday, you know, one of those late night orders after checking out ink. I forgot to order a few things and emailed Goulet Pens. Jeremy sent me an email first thing Monday morning, added my items, and everything was shipped out together.

I just wanted to praise the work of Jeremy at Goulet Pens for helping me out. I am glad that the people who work there do not treat their work as a "job". Awesome work, Jeremy &Goulet Pens.

I will definitely place my next order through them, just for the helpful videos alone. I have a list started.

I would have the last time, but I needed Montblanc ink and they don't carry that one.

I'll also add praise to this 5 year old thread!

Every order from the Goulets I've placed has been carefully packed. Always with a sweet note to "enjoy your new ink and notebooks!" or other appropriate comment.

Sometimes I cheat and buy ink or pens elsewhere, and am shocked at how carelessly other places package!

I love the Goulet outlet section where you can snag a pen that Brian has tested for the nib nook for a discount. They also have customer exchanges and anything that can't be sold as "perfect."

Hello folks,

This is my first post on FPN, and I'm a new member! This has been an excellent resource for learning about fountain pens in general, and I'm happy to be part of the community.

I live in Calgary AB & am curious if other members from Canada could comment on shipping times and duties, as it relates to orders from The Goulet Pen Company.

I have read a few reddit posts but they are quite old, and may not be relevant.

Thanks, cheers to all.

Welcome! I'd email them direct as I think shipping changed earlier this year. They're awesome for discussing options and costs. (Long time customer, no affiliation)

They've got a chat function on their website during normal business hours.

Late to the party, but I'm a fan too. We have a handful of store local to Toronto (Wonderpens and Knight's Writing), but simply due to the amount of merch Goulet stocks it's hard not to wind up placing order after order with them.

Their customer service has always been knowledgeable and very helpful in any situation. Most recently, a Goulet nib has graced my Conklin Duragraphy making it usable!

I usually end up paying duty for orders over $50 from Goulet, but more often than not the total cost of an item is still less than shopping at a Canadian store.

It would be nice if shipping was free over a certain cost value, and maybe as their Canadian business grows they'll become more accommodating to cross border shipping.

+1 I've had great service from Goulet, they have a great selection, and Brian's videos are really really helpful.

I'd also like to chime in with my positive feedback and praise for Jeremy in their Customer Care team.

In the summer, they had my dream fountain pen on their Bottom Shelf section: a burgundy/gold Pilot E95S in a fine nib. I wanted it to be my first gold nib pen, and it was right around my birthday, so it was really easy for me to place my first order with Goulet. But weeks stretched by, and the tracking never updated passed "picked up by USPS". After a month, I emailed Goulet and Jeremy responded. Essentially, he told me to let them know if it didn't arrive soon, and he would keep an eye out to see if the package was returned. After around six or seven weeks, I emailed back and let him know it still hadn't arrived.

Goulet's solution was to send me a brand new E95S at no additional cost, with the caveat that if the other pen did eventually arrive, I'd send it back to Goulet. The new pen arrived in just over a week, and it's my favourite pen to write with.

The first order never did arrive :(

I have purchased several items from Goulet, and the service is always excellent.

As one of the current tv ads says: Now Brian, don't let this go to your head.

I have ordered several small items from Goulet over the years - an excellent and painless experience. In fact I would use them on a more regular basis, other than from items that I cannot get elsewhere, were I N America based and did not have to incur heavy shipping, customs and duty costs to Europe. I very much like the style of Goulet and their manner, especially the informal but always interesting style of Brian himself on his little videos which are unfailingly informative. He seems to have developed quite an 'empire' over the past few years and his success is well-deserved. Congratulations to them.

My husband just gave me a gift certificate for Goulet Pens for Christmas, so I'm very excited about placing my first order from them. Before I do, however, I've been doing research online about potential customs charges (I live in Toronto). From posts from Canadians above, I take it that customs is charged for orders over $50? Also, does anyone know if the FPN code is still valid? (e.g. 5% discount for FPN members?)

My husband picked Goulet Pens instead of a Canadian source because I've been watching soooooo many Goulet Pens videos since I fell in love with fountain pens a few months ago. He joked, "So do I have to worry about this Brian guy?" :D

If any Canadians out there have other tips re: ordering from Goulet Pens, I'd appreciate hearing from them. I will also try contacting them directly, as someone has suggested in the thread above.

Hi Debbie, you might try contacting Carrie, from Pens & Tea, She does some nice tea and pen reviews on You Tube, she is from Canada, and she does order from Goulet Pens

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
