I happened to see Louis Blanc’s photo work “CyClOpS” and it reminded me a russian society, which now supports putin’s regime and the war against Ukraine. Those who sit in the cracks, hate the whole world, want to destroy everyone and everywhere, but use global achievements in any fields and do not have their own, from the word “at all”.

Could it be that they themselves are afraid of what they started?

“I know that many people in America say that this is all propaganda, that russia is not actually committing war crimes. And my answer to them is: come talk to me. I am living proof of the terrible things they do to people. And I can tell you what it really is” - Alex Drueke is a 40-year-old American who returned from russian captivity and told everything.

Andrew, anyone who has any awareness of how the Tzars, Lenin, Stalin, and those who followed treated the Ukraine and Ukrainians -- the pogroms, the starvation, and the rest -- knows Russians commit evil and war crimes are just part of it.

ETA: I was on a trip to what was then the USSR in 1976.  There was a guy in our tour group who was born there, but brought to the US as a small child. He was absolutely convinced that he was being followed the entire trip (Moscow, the industrial city Kalinin, and Leningrad).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I think we should not generalize, it is not any human group that is inherently good or evil, but some individuals only. And most important, that specific topic is not fit for the forum.

If we were to complain, we might as well complain about pen makers who disregard fair play conventions in their own interest, without any regard for those who are affected by their practices.

But two points come to my mind: it is some makers not some generic collectives and there are already many threads to discuss these practices (that some may actually not perceive as unfair).

Therefore, I think we could rather leave this thread for its main topic, Arts and the way arts depict our daily experience of life (which sometimes, as we all know, can be rather distressing).

Personally, I welcome Andrew's Art, lately as a refection of the unpleasantness (to put it mildly) of life, and his explanations, without which his Art would be meaningless.

Unfounded generalizations, specially demonizations, I personally am less comfortable with. (And beg your pardon for my contorted grammar).

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Thanks for the inspiration - "meaningless art without explanations"))

Maybe, maybe ... I'm not offended, I understand everything.

ps: Maybe it looks better from the side, but I just honored a brave guy.

I don't think art is meaningless; life would be depressing if it were.

Not that all art must be meaningful, but I don't know why we have art(in the broad sense- music, literature included) at all if not to communicate humanity across time and space.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
