Excellent.  The shading on the folds of the tie in particular is great.

 Thank you!

Wow!

I would not have considered Edelstein Topaz to be an ink for drawing with (much as I love the color).  You have proved me wrong!  Thanks for this!

Greetings to everyone in the last hours of the outgoing year! Popular wisdom says: “how you will meet the New Year, so you will spend it”, so I want to end this difficult 2020 year on a positive(major) note, and maybe even give someone a gift with this review 🙂

HAPPY NEW YEAR-R-R-R-R!  So lets we be all right in the new year!

My results for the past 2020

spacer.png

I looked in social networks that it is now very popular to summarize year works, so I decided to sum up my results of the past 2020. Last year I did 65 reviews with tests only for writing instruments(predominantly fountain pens), not counting additional posts about paper, inks fading and, of course, participation in the Inktober 2020 challenge. I was glad to everyone who came in, read and of course to those who left their comments and their voices with likes. Because without feedback it is very difficult to find incentives to develop further. I hope this year will be even more productive! Thanks to all and Happy New Year everyone!

Wow.  I really like both those inks, but would not have considered mixing them.  I do really like the result, though -- Is this a 50-50 mix?

Thanks:)

Yes, the color is grape (red grapes). No, the proportions are different: 3 (red) to 2 (green).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
