By the way, I'm getting another Fine in the mail this week, anyone have a medium that they'd like to trade? :) LOL

I don't have a photo yet, but I just recently became the proud owner of a Pilot M90. It is currently my main carry around pen. It's just so convenient and it's a smooth wet writer. Mines a fine line.

Regina's price may be extra high, but all the M90s selling in Europe were priced quite a bit higher than we paid here or what they were selling for in the Far East.

I think that applies in general to the nicer Japanese pens sold in Europe, but I'll defer to someone who knows that market better.

I'm an owner of a Fine M90 that I had Dillon make into a .3 cursive italic. However it came back less-than-stellar, major tooth on the upstroke but perfectly fine on the downstroke, and was shipped with blue ink still in the cartridge, thereby making a mess.

I was ready to dispose of the pen but I could not take that step, having been such a fan of the original Myu 701. I have a 701 with my birth month's datestamp and was looking to have the M90 be my 'daily driver'.

I subsequently sent the M90 to Mike-It-Work who fixed it up as best he could and although it's not perfect, it is now a pleasure to use.

These are indeed remarkable pens. I wonder if my misfortune was the universe's way of telling me not to mess with the Murex's already-perfect design.

Any other M90 owners there with modified nibs?

I too read a review here and fell in love with the integrated nib. I got my from Malaysia at a fantastic price, and got the nib size I was looking for Medium.

Ha! Looks like that actually worked! Checked back on AusPost tracking and it's listed as being processed and ready for delivery, timestamped at half an hour after I made the post. Hmmm... *channels cosmic powers into materialising large crate of MB Writer's Editions* :roflmho:

After waiting almost 2 weeks, mine finally arrived! Inked it up with Visconti blue and it writes like a dream.

  • 1 month later...

The 9000 units may be referring to a certain cartoon...

Where can I buy one?

Step 1: Buy another fountain pen

Step 2: ???

Step 3: Profit.

Paid for mine earlier today... managed to scrounge a M nibbed sample.

I'm already tempted to have it stubbed or C/Italic'd...

I may need a 2nd one just to be safe... we'll see how that goes when my first one arrives.

Oh, and Tinychickenman (Professionaldilettante)... I am so blaming this pen on you when it arrives... your signature photo drove me over the edge.

I actually tried to have that done myself and it was almost impossible to remove the feed from one of the pens to do the work. So not to say it can't be done but if your pen has the feed fitted very tightly, the nibmeister may not be able to remove it (without cosmetic damage).

Count me in! :) I love the integrated design and satiny feel of the brushed stainless steel. I have one in F - I find that it writes a bit dry with Noodler's Polar Blue, though. Not sure if it's the ink or if I need to get the feed/nib adjusted....

Any idea where to buy? I don't want to buy this from E-bay; so please recommend where you got yours. I live in USA BTW

I think of my FPs as my children.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
