Sailor Tokiwa Mat

This may be due to my monitor but there seems to be resemblance to Diamine Teal - Michael with your eye is the similarity still there 'in the flesh' so to speak? Actually on review it looks like a a darker version of R&K Alt Goldgrun.

The reason I ask is these inks are expensive to import to the UK and I have the Diamine and the R&K so buying a bottle of ink that is similar would be a disappointment - but I do like the colour and I imagine the shading is very good - this range seems to have some inks that have lovely shading (at least in the reviews) - but is it worth the expense?

Two views I agree with: it looks as a dark R&K Alt Goldgrün to me as well but interesting enough to wish to test it. And Sailor inks distribution is a true mystery, and certainly awful in some parts of the world, and not worth the expense.

Michael kindly sent me a written sample - yes it is different to Alt Goldgrun - the sheen is definitely there. It is, without doubt, an interesting ink.

Is it worth the expense? From my point of view, no it's not. However I must clarify that by saying that my budget is limited and for the price I could have two bottles of other makes of ink. I love the look of most of the Sailor inks (including this one) and have toyed with the idea of buying some, but on balance I'll continue to look at the samples here on FPN and spend my money on other makes that are less expensive. This is a purely personal choice and not intended to cast aspersions on anyone else's choices.

Thanks you for the update, Carlc. Even enjoying Sailor (and Pilot) inks, -take this as a merely coincidental shared conclusion, then- the effort to find and pay for them takes away a great part of the joy of what I find to be very good products. And thanks to Michael for the great review.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. This is very helpful.

I feel a lot more like I did before than I do now.

It may be useful for people to know that these additional color effects are not seen with all papers.

I can see that I need to do a display of all 16 of these LE inks from 2010 on a nice paper.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.
