Just collected a Visconti Divina Black M Fountain Pen today

I had a Visconti Opera Aida Limited Edition Fountain Pen last year but I was never really happy with the nib so I exchanged it with the dealer for a Delta Dolce Vita M in Black. This was a very pleasant pen to use but it didn't have that feel that a Visconti pen has. That warm feeling that only a celluloid constructed pens seem to have. I was in the dealers today and I related this to him and he allowed me to exchange it so I am very pleased to say I now have another celluloid pen from a company I regard as one of the best in the industry, namely, Visconti and the M nib on this pen is beautifully smooth so my original pen must have had some sort of nib problem. When an item is hand made as Visconti pens are there is always the chance that there could be a manufacturing issue, hence, the manufacturers guarantee

Congrats - the Divina is a very nice pen. I've got a Divina Desert Springs waiting for me that I'm very excited about. :)

Kenneth who's your dealer? They sound very good at customer service.

So good a trip to Yorkshire would not be out of the question!

I am going to suggest that you purchase with caution from the above dealer as the pen I bought, at full retail price seems to be not in new condition. In fact I returned it today and they gave me a full credit, but in a very sheepish and embarrassed way after I indicated I was not too sure that the pen was what it was supposed to be so beware.

This now means I am in the market for a new pen but this time I will endeavor to find a F- M Italic which I would have preferred in the first onstance

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
