Merry Christmas! I hope everyone's day is filled with joy. :)

So... you're giving away free joy? Can you ship to Australia?

More of a lurker than a poster.

Don't they stock dish washing detergents at regular stores in Australia :roflmho: ?

I can try!... but joy tends to leak out of the box as it goes along. :)

Well, you need to package it better! Use more duct tape :eureka: !

On a sacred quest for the perfect blue ink mixture!

Attention Preppy Fans!

I have a random trinket I'd like to give away. It's a 1.25" diameter button pin that reads "Helpful hint: I'm a sucker for preppies." The pin background is pink and the writing is green. I think the button actually refers to the 1980s preppies who wore Lacoste polo shirts, but I don't see why Preppy enthusiasts couldn't sport this on their bags or lapel.

Be the first person to PM me, and the button is yours.

I subscribe to The Rule of 10 (pens, that is)

Okay generous people - it is payback time!

I have a little competition going where you can win my Christmas money (£40) in exchange for a new pen for me. The full details are in this post but I am crossposting it in the hopes that it might be an opportunity to reward someone who was going to give a pen away for free!

Take care, keep up the good work,

Matthew

The competition is suspending pending approval - my mistake for not knowing the rules. If they put it back on I will post again.

Sorry,

Nothing really exciting this time, but if someone wants this, then enjoy...

My friend's husband works for Best Western and gave me a 2010 black spiral bound planner. It is a two-page weekly layout but also has the whole month view in the front of the book for each month.

I use a PDA phone and don't need it, so if you don't mind that it says Best Western on it, then it is yours. (I figured there was at least one student somewhere who would rather spend their money on pens than a fancy planner for assignments... :) ) Anyway, this is open to anyone who wants it. First PM with address gets it.

CONUS only this time.

Thanks!

...More sometime soon... :D

I found this book at a discount store and bought it because the title deals with Zelda, another native of my home state. Then I read some of the entries and thought it might be interesting to some other FPN'ers. The book gives some background on the dedications of various books starting with Frankenstein, 1818, and including many best sellers up to 2007's The Yiddish Policmen's Union.

So, here is the deal- first email to Tberry010@yahoo.com gets the book.

It is a strange time of year so I might be a little slow getting back to you, but will try to edit this post as soon as I know the book is claimed, and will try to get the book out within a few days.

BTW: If you find a small brown smudge or two it is because I ate a piece of fudge while writing this post!!

Best wishes to all for the coming new year.

Tom

Sorry, I meant to post in 'pay it orward' If mods could move that would be great. Tom

Moved to Pay it Forward - Carrie

First, thanks Carrie.

Book is claimed by Connie-will alert all responders. Tom

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
