I also have four 1.0ml syringes (No Needles) They can't be used for refilling cartridges, but would be great for custom mixing your own inks. First four PMs get them. US only please. Please put SYRINGE in the subject line. Three left.

The winners have been chosen by random.org, and have been contacted! Congrats to the winners! This was fun--I hope to give something else away some time soon! :)

So, I'm taking a huge exam on Wednesday, and I need some good karma! :) I'm a student, so it isn't much, but I'm offering the following:

1 brand-new, yellow Platinum Preppy refillable highlighter pen, converted to an eyedropper pen

1 brand-new, black Platinum Preppy fountain pen, converted to an eyedropper pen

Since these are eyedroppers, I don't have any cartridges for them, but you could certainly still use them with cartridges if you wanted. I've also used Platinum converters with success.

I'll send them anywhere at my expense, one per customer, please. PM me with your address and which one you're interested in, and I'll use random.org to select the winner out of all the PMs in each respective batch. I'll take PMs until 9pm PST on Wednesday, 9/30/09 (after my exam!).

Good luck! :)

Inks currently in pens: Noodler's La Reine Mauve, Rachmaninov, Prime of the Commons Blue-Black, Naval Orange, MN Whaleman's Sepia, Verdun Green, Majestic Orange; J. Herbin Violette Pensée, Rose Cyclamen, Orange Indien

Well, all righty then.

I have more fountain pens up for adoption. CONUS only, I fear, and the first 'PM' (give full name/shipping address) gets, AND ONE pen per customer, please.

Each pen will come with a surprise.

4. Preppy 05/M in BB (which is really a nice medium blue). Great cheapie, lots of fun.

Periodically I'll check my messages and either add on to this or post a new reply to keep track of what's still available.

PS: Hero demo already gone, thanks

Also Rotring Artpen gone

And now the Pel Script, whew ;]

I feel like a jerk. Work has prevented me from sending the notebooks, but I have no excuses. Will mail them tomorrow

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

For what it's worth, I went to my local Walgreen's and asked the pharmacy guy about buying a thicker-gauge syringe for filling fountain pen cartridges. He rummaged around and gave it to me for free. He said they normally cost around .35 cents. Score.

I used it to fill the vintage Sheaffer I found at an antique store for $5.00. Mint condition with a large Skrip cartridge.

Ask and ye shall receive.

I've been dying to try the Herbin Bleu Pervenche, is it still available?

Okay, my turn. This is a small way to repay the friendship and information that I've found on FPN (plus enabling that should be illegal!)

I'm offering 3-5 ml samples of each my inks. Since the tubes I have available are not pen-friendly, I'll include a plastic pipettor for transferring ink to cartridges or a more friendly container. One sample of each of my inks is available, one per person. First PM gets the color, and I'll try to update availability quickly. Perhaps give a second choice in your message, in case your first choice is gone. And, yes, I know, I have far too many inks, but I do love colors. <img src="https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cloud9.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cloud9:" border="0" alt="cloud9.gif" /> (Note the lack of blacks and other ...serious colors.)

So, up for grabs are:

<b>Noodlers</b>

Habanero

<strike>Legal Lapis</strike> going to ntheo

Golden Brown

Firefly

<strike>Dragon's Napalm</strike> going to brl

<strike>Borealis Black</strike> going to xmattxyzx

<b>Swisher</b>

<strike>Maroon</strike> going to asmith

<b>Private Reserve</b>

<strike>2003 DC Supershow Blue</strike> going to Bearcat

Plum

<strike>Burgundy Mist</strike> going to scutterdav

Purple Mojo

<strike>Orange Crush</strike> going to inBOIL

Sherwood Green

Lake Placid Blue

<b>Levengers</b>

Fireball

Cardinal Red

Gemstone Green

Cocoa

Pinkly

<strike>Amethyst</strike> going to Eskie

<b>J. Herbin</b>

Blueu Pervenche (Periwinkle Blue)

<strike>Poussiere de Lune (Moon Dust)</strike> going to Lloyd

Jaune Bouton D'Or (Buttercup Yellow)

<b>Rotring</b>

Turquoise

<b>Conway Stewart</b>

<strike>Brown</strike> going to 698686

<b>Pelikan</b>

Violet

Brilliant Green

Brilliant Red

<b>Mont Blanc</b>

Green

<b>Pilot Iroshizuku</b>

<strike>Yama Budo (Wild Grapes)- ordered, so may be slight delay.</strike> going to kookychick

US or Canada only.

I thought I should mention why I've tried to Pay it Forward, both in this thread and previously. Not long after I joined FPN, I posted a WTB for a Reform Demo, a pen that I had owned previously. A member sent one to me, at no cost...and included a Recife Crystal Eyedropper. He just wrote that he thought that I'd like it, and I did! I've tried to pay it forward since then.

Can't you import the seeds, and grow your own? That's what my in-laws do, although I don't know which kinds of peppers they grow.

Sorry for the slow reply - missed this post before.

As far as I am aware, it's any seeds in particular that Quarantine is strict on. We bought a pack of multiple spices in Thailand recently - just for the saffran strings, which alone were cheaper than we could buy in Aus - and declared it on arrival, knowing full well that some were prohibited. They were all individually packaged so the AQIS (Aust'n Quarantine and Inspection Service) lady just took out the ones that were prohibited, which was basically anything with seeds (including some Thai chillis).

AQIS is really quite strict, with Australia being an island and all. Here is a more detailed explanation of what you must declare on arrival, if anyone is curious (or travelling to Aus and not wanting to get in trouble!).

ETA: I believe importing some prohibited items (such as seeds) *is* possible under some certain conditions, eg the supplier must have the proper health and sanitary certificates, I think? And the importer has to pay for special import permits. A lot of effort if it's not somethng critical!

Cheers

Waterman W5 , blue striated , 14k medium-finish nib looking for a new home

This is a lovely pre or post ww2 pen, in nice used condition.

If you search the for sale forum, you should find a picture in the first part of 2009, when I bought it

If anyone wants this pen please send me a PM

I would appreciate it if you pay for the postage.

Cheers

It's very nice to see the spirit of generosity alive and well on FPN, and enjoying an upsurge of late. This is something we'd like to support and encourage, so I've created this pinned topic. Members who have pens or related items they'd like to pass on and give away will have a home here, should they want one. Members who claim stuff shouldn't feel that they need to have something of their own to pass on immediately, though. Even if it's years later, the magic should still work.

It all comes back - eventually!

As a newbie to FPN I would just like to say how touched I am at seeing this forum!

I have a bunch of BPs/RBs/gel pens I'd really really like to give away. PM/email me (crazytales at gmail.com) and you can claim up to five pens of my choice (while you can specify which type you'd prefer, I'm not going to guarantee it). This will still go on until I've divested all of them.

*doesn't expect much interest, but hey it's worth a try isn't it?*

Plants & seeds

It's the time of the year to close up the greenhouse and bring in the house plants. They grow like crazy over the summer and I end up with too many to take in. Here's what I have available, if anyone would like some.

Morning glory seeds. Mostly shades of purple, ranging from almost a red to lavender. Possibly blue or white. I don't guarantee color because I mixed up the seeds.

Also, tiny little plantlets of Mother of Thousands, Bryophyllum or Kalanchoe (depending on where you look) daigremontianum. Very easy to grow. Fast growing. Can be invasive in warmer climates.

I might also be able to send a cutting of wandering jew, Tradescantia zebrina, if anyone is interested.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand. I thought you were starting this thread for giving things free. Is it all right to sell things here?

Not in this thread, though donors will sometimes ask for postage/shipping. If you have things to sell, you need to move up a level to https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?showforum=102 and start a new topic.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
