Guide to Posting Images in Sales Posts

Recommended Posts

Since the forum upgrade it had not been possible to use the add attachment function to add an image to a post directly from your own computer. This means that photos have to be hosted externally on a site like Photobucket or Flickr and then linked to on the forum.

This is a quick screen capture guide showing how to add an image to your posts. Please use this function rather than a URL linking to the image making it necessary for people to browse away from FPN to see an image of your sale item. It's far easier for everyone if they can see an image in your sale post.

For Sale posts made without a photo or only providing a link to a photograph may be removed from the forum without warning.

This screen shot shows you where to find the add image tool.

That produces a little drop down box into which you add the link to your .jpg image.

Once you click on the 'insert image' button the image will appear within the posting box as shown.

If you have a picture in photobucket, upload the picture, then look for a 'Share this Image' table that looks like the one below:

http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx356/richardandtracy/FileSharing.jpg

Click on the 'IMG Code' text which highlights the text in the box to the right of it. Hovver the mouse over the highlighted text, right click, select 'Copy'. This copies the image address onto your computer's clipboard. Then paste the address into the FPN editor & hey presto you've got a picture in your post.

Regards,

Richard.

To add a photo stored on Flickr, do the following:

  1. Add photo
  2. Click on the 'Share this' tab.
  3. Click on menu option 'Grab HTML/BBCode'
  4. Click on the 'BB Code' Radio Button'
  5. In the box titled 'Copy & Paste the code below', do just that.
  6. Paste the copied text into the sale

Flickr adds lots of extraneous text & links, and if you only want the photo, only copy and paste the text starting with ] and finishing with [/img

Regards,

Richard.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
