The FPN Post Office

Recommended Posts

I am currently about 2-1/2 to 3 months behind on responses, but I am working through them. Life has been interesting of late, and looks like it will continue to be so.

However, I feel sort of guilty for not getting replies out in a timely fashion, so thought I would at least let people know I have received their letters and postcards.

In order they have been received (postdated starting around the end of September)

  • hamadryad11 (letter)
  • inkypete
  • pehhorse87
  • smudgy
  • ibz
  • jleeper
  • dandelion
  • FredRydr
  • FP Writing (letter)
  • ToasterPastry
  • ofpwriter
  • sdcurnow
  • DRP
  • orangesam
  • jazztonight
  • DJMort (Awesome guitars!)
  • MikeW
  • pyotrkot
  • inkypete
  • Angus
  • tr3n1ty
  • Tawanda
  • Kabe
  • Kabe
  • Penhorse87
  • CraigR
  • Pietru (and yes, it was snowing here - we had 3 feet and were 30 below Celsius on Sunday, today we were +7 Celsius and melting thankfully.)
  • Kabe
  • Kabe
  • Kabe (the now infamous missing round of postcards)
  • fountainpenfanatic
  • DRP
  • tr3n1ty (the first one did arrive.... I did warn you about my reply time didn't I?)
  • jazztonight
  • frankiex (letter)
  • Okami - WORD (I loved that)

Anything received before this list has been replied to and is enroute. With the end of the year in sight, I just wanted to let everyone know what had arrived. Sorry to everyone for my tardiness - the first one is timely, after that I do the best I can . Responses will be on their way as soon as I can get to them.

I appreciate all of the correspondence. Thanks for helping to keep me sane

With this many on your list it's no wonder you are behind. I couldn't keep up with that many. :notworthy1:

so now, my badge of lost postcards is part of the FPN lore?

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

Maybe not, but it was lost long enough I think it has the potential to become legend.

Should it be part of the lore?

(It was sort of crazy to have five arrive in two batches within a week).

Don't even get me started... pmorin, I have a wonderful letter in my pile from you...

I write to a lot more folks than just the FPN-ers, but my total pen pal list is too high to even mention.

(No, I can't keep up with them all - that's part of the problem!!)

:) When you get there, you get there - that's how I operate. I have a mail sorter near the front door - incoming cards get looked at by my 5 year old son, and I read them and file them in that holder in the order received. When I finish the stack I carry in my 'briefcase', I gather them from the holder and they go into my briefcase.

I don't even claim to have a large list of pen pals (letter or PC).

ToasterPastry - Thanks for the postcard. (And yes, I'm a bit embarrased I had to ask what I wrote it with for pen and ink.) That Noodler's Golden Brown is one of my favourite inks - it shades great in the worst pen I've used, but is incredible in a stub/italic.

PCs in from sdcurnow (how did you know I like flamingos?), okami (adorable pup) and Ruud2904, and hari317.

-> pmorin: that is a most apropos signature.

On that note, profound apologies to my PC recipients and pen pals for my delinquency. I plan to sit downe on Christmas and have a bonding session with my pen, ink, and lots of paper!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
