This is a good idea, but is it really 'official'?

'FPN post office'--I like it. Umm, are we allowed to chat on this thread? :)

I keep coming back to my Esterbrooks.

I almost like it, but there should be two threads -- one for letters, one for postcards -- and they should be pinned.

Don't get it myself. I'll stick to the other thread. It was dynamic and ever changing. Seems the mods are trying to fix something that isn't broken. Would have been nice to ask us what we thought. I'm grumpy now. Can't get a forum started for Lamy Pens but they want to break up the postcard thread. Sheeesh!

The mods have chosen not to pin this thread at this time. (Perhaps they'll reconsider at some point) However, if we all use this thread for updates (and chatter, why not?) it should stay near the top.

...As for "Official" sure, why not? :)~

Oh, PC in from inkypete. Absolutely lovely card!

It is customary to have the in/out chatter in the Postcard Swap thread, I gather, but this is not the case with the Snail Mail Writing list thread.

penhorse and jazz tonight, yesterday, PCs

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

I've now pinned this topic, because a number of people have so requested. The snail and postcard topics should now contain just expressions of interest and newcomers in particular should find it easier to get going.

As has been pointed out, this is simply returning those threads to their original purpose. Let's move on now.

I don't get it either. The other thread had messages about sending and receiving cards from the beginning.

I repeat, let's move on now.

Will I get in trouble for not moving on if I just add that I like this? It really is nice to have these two things separate and, I think, much easier to use this way. Thanks and thanks for deciding to pin the topic.

I've received a generous number of cards and letters, and want to thank you all very much.

I won't list all the names, but I promise you will all soon be receiving replies.

I do, however, want to let Kabe know that I received your "Old Man and the Sea" postcard yesterday (postmarked 17 Nov.).

So, we're seeing a great improvement in mail delivery time compared to the last card mailed from Baja California Sur!

Fantastico!

Actually, Jazz, I have reasons to believe that card was sent in September, regardless of the postmark

This week I received cards from CraigR and Denny M.

I have to admit I have been very lazy recently and have a bit of a backlog. Replies to everyone out very soon.

Thank you.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
