My VP is a blue carbonesque, but I sort of wish I'd gotten a green one -- I don't quite know why I chose the blue carbonesque. The blue carbonesque is also a lovely finish, though...

There is a green carbonesque that wasn't sold in the US market. Susrely that would be your favourite!

call me a gray maniac, but my newly arrived gun metal gray VP took the favorite position from the slate gray. It looks simply astonishing to me.

my beauties:

Namiki Vanishing Point F - Slate Gray

Rotring Initial F - Electric Blue

I have a Raden and I don't use it. THe colour just doesn't work for me, and I think it looks a little too much like it's trying to be something else.

:yikes: Sheer blasphemy! Take it back... NOW! The VP Raden is trying to be itself, nothing else.

My first VP was a black carbonesque, which I bought for myself for Christmas, with a fine and medium nib.

All other things being equal I have to agree with the raden finish - although I don't own one (too expensive).

I was unsure when I ordered my Sesenta and have to admit that I really like the grey marble finish - really nice and more subtle than I was expecting.

For daily use, however, I really like the black carbonesque as it gives must a bit of texture and improves the grip.

I've got the Decimo in the pearl white, and I love it. My wife has the standard Capless in chrome, and I prefer the white - it has a subtle pearly shimmer and depth to it. Shame the standard Capless doesn't come in white.

What is the difference between the Decimo and the standard capless?

The Décimo has a narrower body.

I'd really like to get one of the Sesentas, though I have several other pens I'd like to get first before I get a second VP.

Yes, this is an old topic but I couldn't resist posting

YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW.

I also have an orange that is alright, but I wish it was more flat orange Crayola and not the slight bit metallic that it is.

I love my blue w/rhodium.

And, of course, Raden. That's the last one that I've gotten. May be my last one for good. Well, until y'all started talking about carbonesque colors that I haven't seen. Grrr.

The rhodium trimmed green has a robinhood-esque look to it which I love.

Yellow takes a close second though, I just ordered one of those on sale today.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
