Danitrio Fellowship travelling journal

And here I thought you had been "mirandering." I do hope you get to feeling better sooner rather than later. I don't see a problem in inserting 'calligraphy' into the list, especially if it makes things simpler for you.

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

Calligraphy, I see no reason not to. Go for it.

I'm glad the Aussies are so enjoying the journal. I am in if we start another.

Will do, Calligraphy.

Can you believe this? The Journal is perfectly safe, but now the Fellowship pen is hiding somewhere....

Concerted effort to track it down going on now.

Good to see this found and moving on again! I do hope you haven't lost your Danitrio Fellowship pen, Miranda. That would be a tragedy!

ok, me again with the non-lost journal.

sorry for the delay in replying but was in hospital with an osteoporotic spinal compression fracture of the T6 which was agony for 8 days, and am now have bacterial pneumonia due to gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa and am back in hospital for another ten days for IV antibiotics. Wish they had done both at the same time!

This is day 6, so my lungs are clear again and the lungologist is very pleased with me.

And what would we do in hospital without having access to the Internet, and our own music and photos and mobile phones?

Only bought in about 12 fountain pens, but am finding the VPs great to use as a patient.

mea culpa Miranda

[who is on fentanyl, morphine and codeine, and a bit feverish, so please excuse lack of clarity]

It has been awhile since we bumped this to the top of the que. Any word on the journal? Any new words in the journal? Any words at all?

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

Any clue as to the whereabouts of the journal these days?

umm .... err.... it's still with me.

But i have a darn good excuse.

A couple of weeks in hospital with a 'flat as a pancake' T12 spinal compression fracture about the time I said I'd post it.

Then SIX months in prison hospital with more trouble from the T12 injury, compounded by a badly broken femur when the assistant men dropped me, mistaking their job of lifting for dropping. Severe osteoporosis didn't help any of that. But they were negligent. As was the nurse. But that's another story of trying to get compensation.

I can't tell you how important my pens, inks and paper were when I was in hospital and rehab. A small important source of pleasure and a way of keeping in touch with the real world. yes. that one where everyone uses fountain pens!

So I have been home in a wheel chair and on a decent amount of pain medicine for a while slowly going through the erratic collections of things in boxes and I found the Danitrio Journal to my embarrassment and shame.

But it is here, and safe.

If I can send it to someone in Australia, I will do so, asap. Sending it to the US is beyond my posting skills.

Soki? anyone?

Mea culpa.

Miranda, your health is far more important than a a 2-year old collection of paper with scribblings of the insane. I'm glad you're on the road to recovery and make sure you put something in the journal before sending it on to calligraphy/Jon!

I notice that a few people on our list may not be frequenting FPN any more. Please note:

Once you get the journal, PM the next person and ask for their address. Give them a few days to respond (and it'll give you a few days to do your bit in the journal). If they don't respond in 2-3 days, go to the next person and PM them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
