I dislike their whole "Defy Extreme" offerings, but that watch of yours is a beauty and a classic. Nice shot!

Couldn't agree more. Have you seen the new Defy Extreme Open? But I suppose someone has to target the Boy Band market - I suspect we're not meant to like it! ;)

Seems a terrible waste of that lovely El Primero movement though ...

Jim, I do like that Hamilton very much. They do seem to know how to design a very handsome watch. We don't see many over here, sadly.

Thats a shame as Hammys are a delightful bargain for such workmanship. I would like another but want to save for a Sinn 656 or 856.

And thats going to take awhile!

I know that there are plenty of Hamiltons on ebay.Maybe you could locate one there.

I wonder where can I get this kind of box.... :cloud9:

Here is a shot of my valet. The watch slots were empty until the mail came two days ago!

I got it for Christmas but I think it came from World Lux. I believe that it is by Venlo, but I can't seem to find it online. It was however in the World Lux catalog that I received in the mail just before Christmas. I bought the watches to fill the slots and now I am hooked and want more, just like pens.

How painful to show that gorgeous IWC.

I want an IWC XVI badly but the price is prohibitively expensive.

Someday.

The IWC XVI is very nice.

Yes i know what you mean, I had to really kick myself and cut a lot of expanses to get this watch. I have been wanting to own an IWC for over 8 years now and just right before I pull the trigger with this one I was looking at Omega PO but comparing those two side by side Omega felt short. I love the blue dial the picture dont do justice on how it looks in person. .

A couple of photos.. I can do better, and I will eventually.

My Ferrari Pen.

My Daily Gear.. cheap watch, cheap pen, both work exceptionally well.

They're a bit blurry (Hand held.. should have used my tripod)

Focus isn't quite right either.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
