Moppie - i accept trades of paper samples or stamps if there's an ink I have you are interested in. I think others are open to this as well - never hurts to ask.

These new posts reminded me that I got some vials recently (thanks KCat) and meant to post a note here.

I have the following:

Private Reserve: DC Supershow 2004, American Blue, Lake Placid Blue, Midnight Blues

Noodlers: Black, Ottoman Rose, La Couleur Royal

Waterman Florida Blue

Aurora Blue

Swishmix Glacier Blue

Lamy Blue Black (I found this ink very dry so it has a bit of soap added to it and now maybe it's too wet, but the color didn't change).

I've added a few new inks:

Yard-o-led Blue (according to Pendemonium this is the same as Diamine Royal Blue)

Swisher Emerald and Antigua Blue

Sheaffer Blue

Parker Quink Blue

I have a Miquelrius and Clairfontaine sprial notebooks, a small Rhodia pad and Southworth Fine Business 100% Cotton paper that I could send paper samples instead of ink.

I'm mostly looking to try Blue-Blacks, I'd like to find a good green and I always want to try any blue I haven't tried before. I'd like to try any of the Noodlers waterproof inks besides black.

In particular, I'd like to try Noodlers Blue, Ottoman Azure, Midnight Blue, Waterman Blue-black, Private Reserve Black Magic Blue, Sonic Blue, Spearmint, Sherwood Green, Emerald Green and anything else anyone finds particularly noteworthy.

This isn't very glamorous, but I have a bottle of Schaeffer black, brand new, that I will never use. I will trade it for anything except a black, anybrand and doesn't even have to be much in it just enough to try a new color would be fine by me.

OH! I also have rhodia, clairefontaine, and miquelarius paper if people want paper samples instead of an ink vial - I think that's a great idea! Maybe I should just ask for that... PM or e-mail for my snail!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
