SK -- do you have a picture of the official vials? I'm curious if it's what I have.

Many thanks,

Well, I don't have or particularly want to order any of the ink vials available here, but I do have some 0.25 oz (7.4 mL) jars for ink trading. I've sent them in the post before and have never had a problem with them leaking ink!

They will come labeled, just like the picture above.

My inks:

Visconti Blue, Bordeaux.

Diamine Mediterranean Blue, Umber, Emerald, Imperial Purple, Pumpkin, Damson.

Waterman Blue-Black.

Private Reserve Arabian Rose.

Aurora Black.

Montblanc Violet.

J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune, Cacao du Brésil, Terre de Feu.

Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-Ro.

PM me if interested in at least two of these colors and live in the CONUS! :)

Just got a generous supply of vials from Dillon which were backordered, but still only took just over 2 weeks from when I first contacted him. Wanted to thank him very much for his contribution to the community, and added a bit to help cover any losses he may run into over the years doing this.

:thumbup::notworthy1:

Edit: Let me even go a step further, and praise the quality of these vials. My questions were how water tight the lids are, and how strong is the plastic.

I filled one about 3/4 with water, added a drop of black ink, tightened the cap as tight as I could by hand (also to make sure the threads don't easily strip from overtightening, and went outside to test.

I shook it as hard as I could back and forth for at least 30 seconds, trying to make liquid come out the lid. 100% secure

I squeezed the plastic sides as hard as I could wearing a pair of garden gloves, and could not break it. I tried to break it too. Secure.

Final test, I set it on its side, placing onto dark slate in the hot 2pm sun, with the 1/4 air space which should have heated up nicely. No leaks.

So, I regard these as better than a glass vial for shipping, and about the only thing that could cause these to leak or break would be some mechanical metal trauma. To get these from Dillon for 10 cents each, and he send them to you on good faith, for you to reimburse him after seeing the amount of the postage + $1 for packing + $1 for PayPal (if used)--is an incredibile gift to the community.

More :notworthy1::notworthy1::notworthy1:

Here is a thumbnail of what the vials look like, and size scale.

I am relatively new to FPing, so I only own colors at this point...obviously I need more variety. Hopefully I can trade both samples to the same person to keep shipping minimal. Thanks! Jeff

I have:

I want:

Noodler's Lexington Gray

Diamine Woodland Green (or equivalent...looking for a sophisticated blackish-green color of US currency)

Will consider other MASCULINE colors

I also would like a few empty Lamy cartridges if anyone had any to get rid of

Noodler's:

Bay State Blue

Black

Gruene Cactus

Habanero

Nikita

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
