I have a bit of a passion for Burma (Myanmar) and am on the cusp of purchasing one, the other, or both of J. Herbin Ambre de Birmanie and Noodlers V-Mail Burma Road Brown. I'm concerned that the Herbin ink will lack the intensity that I desire. I have also never tried any of the Noodlers inks and do not know how they will perform in my pens. My other handicap is the lack of any of the 'vials' that all seem to be using.

What I want:

J. Herbin Ambre de Birmanie

Noodlers V-Mail Burma Road Brown

What I have:

MontBlanc Black

J. Herbin Violette Pensee

J. Herbin Vert Olive

3 International Cartridges of J. Herbin Bleu Myosotis

4 Parker Quink Permanent Black Cartridges

What I propose:

I'd love to receive either of the two inks that I mention. If you send me some vials, I'll be happy to fill them with any of the bottled inks that I have. If you'd like to send me either of the two inks that I mention and would like any of the cartridges that I have, let me know.

Cheers,

vieuxcarre

WTB SAMPLE Vials *FULL* of Waterman Green and Parker Quink Blue-Black

I am working on a Parker Penman Sapphire "replacement" recipe with the help of master mixter D.C.Waites. I already have a Noodler's based one, This one is a PR based.

I will buy my own bottle of "root" ink for this recipe (PR American Blue) as I'll use that probably sooner or later by itself. HOWEVER, IF this recipe doesn't work out for me, I'd have no use whatsoever for any sizable amount of both these other two ingredient inks.

I DO need AT LEAST a Dillo sized vial FULL or each of these, a bit larger sample would be even nicer and of course, I'd

pay some more for that too.

If anyone can fix me up, I'd greatly appreciate it and will make it worth your while.

Sorry people, but I no longer own any Noodler's ink. I will put together a list of what I have to trade when I have accumulated some more bottles of different brands of ink. Disregard any previous list of inks I had available to trade.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
    • A Smug Dill
Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
