Ink Sample Exchange - United States

Guest Denis Richard

Recommended Posts

This is mainly a one time request for samples of J. Herbin's Eclat de Saphir and Visconti Blue.

I am trying to find the best behaved, closest match to Noodler's Baystate Blue and started this thread on it

in Inky Thoughts; https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...howtopic=101490

The bad news is that two of the probable front runners, J. Herbin's Eclat de Saphir and Visconti's Blue are

out of stock at Peartree Pens (and thusly can't be included in the sampler I ordered) and James has no

idea when they will be placing another order for them. :(

Now, I don't have alot of inks I can trade but I do have some vials and could trade;

Noodler's Midnight Blue

PR Copper Burst

PR Midnight Blues

Pelikan Brown

Waterman Black

and a few Cross Black catridges which is supposed to be the same as Pelikan Black

I also have a spare new Field Notes pocket notebook and a couple spare 1oz Nalgene travel ink bottles I

could also trade. If necessary, I'd pay for these 2 samples also.

Please PM me if you can help out here.

Much Thanks,

Bruce in Ocala, FL

Saguaro Wine***********

Something bulletproof

Diamine:

Steel Blue*

Claret

Amaranth

Caran d'Ache:

Storm

Caribbean Sea*************

J. Herbin:

Poussiere de lune*

Perle Noire

Each cartridge holds a little over 1ml of ink. Ideally, I'd like to do something like 6 carts for 5ml of ink or 6 carts for 6 carts.

Even if you don't use carts you could always pop them open and extract the ink with a syringe.

PM me with trades. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks to my trading partners here I'm now up to 109 sample vials. So, I'm taking a break from the Ink Exchange until I've tried them all. I'll try and add reviews to my blog as I do. You can see my current ink reviews (99 as of today) on my blog at Harmless Dilettante.

I'll post when I'm ready to start ink swapping again.

Thanks everyone,

Kate

To get the vials we use for the ink exchange system, contact Dillo (Dillon).

Though vials will hold about 7 ml of ink, the user's nib will displace some--thus filling with about 5 ml for trading is recommended.

This is where you post your requests and offers for the "KCat system" of vial sample exchange. I propose a simple format such as :

"I have :

<list>

I am interested in :

<list>

Contact me by <e-mail/PM/etc...>."

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
