Too busy answering a letter using the Spirit :cloud9:

How's that tantalizing tale for the PD coming along? Will we ever get to a sample of the hand-written draft? :puddle: :puddle:

I've just got back from picking up the Onoto cap overlays, so it looks like being a rather late night, polishing the pen caps before assembling the pens ready for dispatch to Tewlesbury in Gloucestershire.

I will have to do this work tonight, because I just know that I will have so much to do tomorrow, packing being the least of the problems!

Then I'll be off on Wednesday morning to do my job as an international Crime Fighter, to rid Esterbex's hotel room of the dreaded 'Warm Fussies' before she arrives!!!

See Y'awll!!!

Thank you Henry!

GP..........I hope you are feeling better! :cloud9: Pink cloud for healing vibes to snuggle you!!

Esterbex........... steady Girl!!! I'm so envious that Henry is checking out your room before you arrive - warm fuzzies can be a worry, I'm told - not ever experienced any myself..... :roflmho:

Still waiting for the medics to remember where they left me. Meanwhile someone is getting a rather distracted missive in an ugly envelope.

Chris you are KILLING me! :ltcapd:

GP, wish I could persuade the pilot to turn toward your abode and scoop you up on the way to Columbus. Some intensive pen/ink/stationery therapy and some good ol' fashioned TLC are what you need. :cloud9:

Missives to the Almighty on your behalf on my lips....no envelope needed. ;)

I can't believe I just spent a few hours reading this thread from the beginning. Mr. Henry Simpole, your dedication to your craft is simply mind-bending. The next time I'm in the UK, I'll make sure I can visit you at Portobello Road. I'll have to pick up a few extra shifts to cover the costs of purchasing one of your outstanding designs. Thank you for doing what you do! :notworthy1: :notworthy1: :notworthy1:

Seriously though 'Pelikan_FP' - you have found one of life's treasures.......and Henry!!!

Now you just have to decide which pen first........because you can't stop at one - a bit like potato chips!!! Good 'ere, ain't it???

Pelikan FP,

I feel very complimented by your dedication to plough through this thread from the beginning! Still, I suppose you must have found it entertaining, or you wouldn't have continued to this point!

Can we assume that you will be 'popping in' from time to time? All you need to qualify, is a peculiar sense of humour, and an interest in fountain pens, inks, nibs, or just 'Desky Things!'

Thank you for your encouraging words.

Now, let me see. The 'Warm Fussy' detector, "Check!"........... Super Hero Utility Belt!, "Check!"...........

And there we must leave him, packing his suitcase, ready for his journey to 'parts foreign' in his fight to rid the World of 'unpleasantness', particularly the 'Warm Fussies'!!! :ltcapd: :roflmho:

Well, Henry is in the air now..........hopefully not in the plane's 'comfy chair' - but in the lap of luxury!

With his good looks he should get an upgrade to first class at least :notworthy1: .

I'm hoping that all is well in Columbus, Ohio, and that Henry has checked rooms for 'warm fuzzies', and has remembered to bring all his luggage, silver sheets, pens etc. etc.!!

Photos please................... and have a great time!!! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
