Just got back from Goldsmith's hall! [9.45pm]

I feel as though I have been talking all day today! It seemed as though almost everyone there wanted to ask me about my pens, which was very nice, but very tiring!

Anyway, it appears that one person has decided to order a commissioned piece from me, so it was indeed a very good day today.

There will be another late evening viewing at the show tomorrow, so I had better get to bed as soon as possible!

Now where are the dancing bunnies? :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Sorry Chris,

My people have decided to discontinue the chocolate O/lay pens! That last hot spell killed the idea stone dead!

Today was really busy again up at Goldsmith's Hall, lots of intelligent questions were asked including some really good ones asked by some students about how I was able to transfer the design from the drawing to the sheet metal neatly. [i was so pleased that I was able to answer them, and show them how I do it!

I think that I have gained two customers today, both for silver overlay pens, so from here on I'm treating it as a good PR exercise, anything else will be a bonus.

Thankfully, this evening was the last late viewing, so I should be home tomorrow at a reasonable time. But of course it will be an early start on Saturday morning for the Portobello Road trip!

STYS,

Eye candy is a lot less fattening than the chocolate variety....fewer cavities, too! May we have some more, please? :)

Remembering the rabbit in Alice and Wonderland, I've got so much to do, and so little time I'm just about to rush out the door! So I'm afraid descriptions will have to wait for a while, Sorry about that!

I'm really looking forward to today's show, I'm expecting a celebrity guest, but I can't say anything until later, he may not turn up, but we'll see!

STY later!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
