Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

HAPPY NEW DECADE TO ALL OF YOU

And a general 'blessing' with the thoughts behind our special pen.

I've been following the thread, but haven't contributed for ages--not that anyone really cares. Like Chris, I've been struck by a lung bug, not the nasty one she had, but one of my special ones that re-emerge under stress and tiredness, and which leaves me tired and stressed by all the things I can't get done.

Anyway, I hope I'm still on the 'list' for one of these pens. Great work, Ghost Plane and the Persian Diversion!

As for the amazing work of Henry Simpole. What can one say? Except strong self-talk: you do not need those pens. one will be enough. etc etc.

Thanks for all the photos that have been posted showing how Henry works. They are a delight.

Hi Miranda!

I hope you recover quickly - lung bugs of any variety are a real pain in the .........whole of the body!! Coughing is a real torture, isn't it! Get well quickly - we miss you and don't want you to be ill, stressed and tired out! OK???

As to pens by the Simpole Master..............what can I say? One would be enough - and sometimes I find having four of them filled a bit daunting - I take so much time to decide which to use when I'm writing - which is silly really!:hmm1:

Personally, the longer Ghost Plane takes to get her pen sorted out the better I will find it - just being very selfish and declaring that far too many pens have been purchased lately, and I need to let the old money-tree grow a few new leaves ..........watch this space!:bonk:

Hi, Miranda. Sorry to be so long at it, but the Persian Diversion leads a complicated life and so do I. At least we can all be working on saving for the dream pen when we finally put it together.

Dear Soki is working very long hours right now - and I had some time on my hands, so tracked down her Simpole pen - The Roses - and nicked the pics - and hosted them myself to show them here...........just to get juices running!

Am I evil........? :roflmho:

Persian Diversion is down with the flu, poor baby. Hate I can't be there to spoil him, but he's probably just as happy I'm not.

I have, by the magic of the internet, been contacted by Henry's good friend and photographer - to help out (picture swelled head here......... ) and post some beautiful photos of pens........ and can only surmise that the deep freeze that has England in its grip is creating all sorts of mayhem and trouble!!!! Can the internet freeze?? That is a question for another day - do you agree?

Here are the pics - sadly with no names - so if you go to www.henrysimpole.com you can find the pens and their names - a sort of game we could play........ and maybe we could post back when we find them!!!

Terrific pictures, what's happened to George WP, I thought he was going to post some more, on here?

I suppose he has gone down with the 'bug' as most of us have, in this cold period. Get well soon George. We miss you!!!

Hi Folks!!!

Today I held and used The Roses - made by Henry - featured earlier - Soki's beautiful pen that she kindly brought with her on her visit to us! Of course there were other delicious pens too.........but The Roses is just out of this world! When we have time we will do a photo shoot........so watch this space!!

We are having to plan our time to fit in pens........pens - inks and food and sightseeing and food and pens - oh! and golf for the men to keep them out of our hair!!! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

We are getting fed up with the heat - 39C yesterday, and another scorcher today - but we are off in the car after a late breakfast.........or is that brunch? and will explore the Huon Region via the coast road (to catch any cool air) -

You can have mine. After frozen fountains, ice floating in people's pools, and snow SOUTH of me in the Orlando area, I'm really ready for the tropics to go back to feeling tropical! :bonk:

Thanks Ghost Plane - I love the snow and really cold climates.........which is why Tasmania has to fit the bill for most of the year..........well, not that cold, but nearly some days!

How fares the Persian Connection? Flu gone? Pass on healing vibes from me please!

Henry could export snow at the moment - or at least pack pens in it for shipping - what a novelty! :bunny01:

44.1ºC here yesterday. All offers of snow and ice gladly accepted. Would even pay shipping, as long as it's not to ship an iceberg. Fortunately, down our end of the continent, it's usually a hot dry heat, which I can tolerate: it's when it gets in the mid-20s to 30s that it is humid which I find hard to cope with. And when it is so so hot, no-one expects you to do anything, so one can just play inside!

pen looks glorious! Is that Herbin cyclamen on the nib? Hope you two didn't do any rash buying yesterday because it was hot! I would never do something like that.... the more I look at that pen, the more beautiful it becomes. Henry really is a master at this craft/art.

Wow! What's going on with the global warming?

I used to live in Gainesville, FL, and then in Satellite Beach and Merrit Island, and I don't remember anything like that happening in those good old times...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
