:) Help choosing ink, please

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Looks like the PR Tanzanite got a lot of votes... I'll be looking around the Internet to compare colour swatches....

I may have to try the "blurple" recipe. :) I have some Waterman Purple lying around. Just gotta conjure up some Waterman Blue from somewhere. :P

:) I really do love the Legal Lapis. I got a small sample of it from another forum member and I REALLY like it. I think I ended up using the Sonic Blue more often though, just because I had a full sized bottle and didn't want to waste the LL yet. xD

The green isn't so important for me to get. :P Just thought it might be a little fun to use.

Thanks again for the suggestions. :) Much appreciated. :D

There can be only one. . .

It is Aurora Blue. Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle; it is a well behaved purplish-blue ink that is well behaved and rapidly grows on you like Kudzu.

As a backup, PR Black Magic Blues is interesting, but a bit more purple.

As to the green. . . I have yet to find one that I like.

Do or do not, there is no try. . .

Ahh... so many choices! I think I will have to use that ink sample option from PearTreePens (?). :) I can't wait!

If you really want a really bright green, you can't beat Akhmatova from Noodler's Russian series. It really is bright, and fluoresces under UV light. Bring sunglasses.

For the purple-blue, I'd second Noodler's Kung Te-cheng, but there are possible issues using it (do a search for details - for me it has worked very well). For a safe ink, have a look at La Couleur Royale. Beautiful rich blue with purple overtones.

Yes, I am an unashamed Noodler's fan; no affiliation.

[Just changed the font colour for the second "really" above, and it looks pretty close to Akhmatova on my LCD. Must make time to review that ink sometime soon.]

Cheers,

Effrafax.

Th green that most closely matches the Lime Safari's color is Noodler's St. Patty's Eire, but I always use it more for highlighting than writing.

Reading the thread title my first thought was Waterman FB as it's definitely purplish to my eye. I've replaced it with PR electric DC blue as my primary color. As to green, the PR Spearmint is a fairly bright green. I am mixing PR Spearmint and PR Sherwood 1:1 to get the green I like.

Support the entire Constitution, not just the parts you like.

PR Tanzanite or Aurora Blue for the blue-purple, though the latter's significantly more blue than purple (as you might imagine).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
