Ha ha ha, Ricky! You were the first to post photos! Deirdre, Rick, and I didn't leave the restaurant until almost 7, so by the time I got home (it's now just past 8:00), my lighting was too low. I took a couple of shots, but I'll need to use my tripod. I'll upload this shot for now (you can see it's blurry).

Hey! That looks like your pen! How does yours write? I inked mine up at the table, and it is SUPERB! All this beauty and functionality -- it's... exquisite. I feel very lucky to be a part of the Danitrio Fellowship.

KEVIN IS THE MAN! Thank you for all your hard work, Kevin! And thanks to Dani Boss and Kosetsu-san. I can't imagine anyone who bought one of these pens will be disappointed.

Pen Posse Milpitas was fun, too. I'll post some pics over in that thread. Sayan, thank you for organizing the time and place!

YAY FOR TODAY!

Very, very, very nice! This is a home run! Perhaps in the future, additional FPN Dani Trios could be made? This is fantastic!

I'll take an Aurora, please. Aurora black.

Ethernautrix gets the honor for the first to ink their pen. I need to get one of those travelling inkpots. I figured you stayed and waited for Deirdre since I didn't see your pictures up when I got home. Did you get any jam?

I inked mine as soon as I was through the door of my apartment. I inked mine with Iroshizuku Momiji is honor of the momiji leaves on the pen. My nib is the new extra extra fine. My new favorite Danitrio nib since I tend to favor the finer nibs sizes.

I don't think we can thank Kevin and Danitrio enough. Those boxes are beautiful but not light. I feel for Kevin who had to lift all those presentation boxes. I forgot to take a picture of the letter from Kevin and Danitrio that comes with the pens.

Great to see you, Ricky and Lisa and rest of the Pen Posse today. Glad the pens are to your liking. No rest for the weary. LOL, more boxes to pack tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the photos. I am so focused on the pen itself that I keep forgetting about the box and accessories. I am really looking forward to my pen.

I saw the words traveling inkpots. Are you referring to the Visconti traveling inkpot? Can you use those with maki-e pens and not destroy the finish?

Yes, I used my Visconti Travelling Inkpot. I still laugh at the memory of inking my Aurora Optima at Pen Posse Minneapolis when I was only vaguely aware of the ring of *GASP* when I turned the inkpot upside down, with the Optima's nib positioned correctly inside it, cos I'd neglected to put anything between the inkpot with Noodler's Old Manhattan Blackety-Black Black ink and the luxurious shag carpet -- WHITE luxurious shag carpet -- except my lap. That would be Barry Rubin's white shag carpet at his fabulous store, INK. Not a drop was spilled. *Whew!*

Yesterday, I filled the Fellowship pen with Noodler's Black. I wiped the nib and section right away, which I would do regardless. I wasn't aware that I should be concerned about the finish. Should I be? (I'm asking, cos I don't know. I don't think so, but....)

By the way, I've been using my pen -- stiff fine (or Regular Fine, in Danitrio parlance) -- (last night, this morning), and I LOVE it! I LOVE it! I couldn't be more pleased.

I got to hold Lisa's, it was very exciting. (And I let her use my Bernini, but that's another story.)

I am sure that it should be wiped but it probably doesn't have to be. On the other hand, I am sure that anyone lucky enough to own one of these pens or other similarly decorated items, would want to wipe the ink or other liquid off as soon as possible in order to avoid any damage.

And I have to wait another month for mine.....................At least I got to live vicariously through these photos.

Is the purple urushi not showing up in everyone pictures, or is the pen just almost black?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
