May we know what ink the special Estie will be dipped in for the legal signature?

This would be an incredible weird question.. Anywhere else-but FPN;)

Legal Lapis?

So, in a case like this, when one gets down on one's knee and proposes marriage, does one hand over a traditional engagement ring, or does one offer a rare set of Esterbrook pens?

Not only that but, how does one propose? Does one get to the point and simply say, "Will you marry me?" or does one ask a more appropriate, "How would you like to spend the rest of your life with an Esterbrook collector?" :roflmho:

Congrats you two! :bunny01: :bunny01:

It was more a case of merging the collections. Or, since I had sold several of mine to Brian, this way I get permanent visitation rights.... lol

And then, of course, there is the famous Rosborough set that truly brought us together. We each had half of a rare set, I had the pen, Brian had the pencil. Bought from different people in opposite sides of the county. How fateful is that???

I read the post describing how you two discovered you each had 1/2 of the set. I'd say those are some astronomical odds. I can only imagine the looks on your faces when you each discovered that.

When I saw the image of the pen my jaw literally dropped. I thought it was a joke for a second. It was meant to be. :)

For those (like myself) who aren't already familiar with the story... (and Brian, I'll bet your mouth DID drop open!)

Official congratulations :)

FPH registry - that was a good one!...

I hope to make it in Chicago :)

Wait, you mean FPH DOESN'T have wedding registry? That's just wrong!! Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, engagements, bar mitzvas, etc..... There is a huge market to which they could be catering!!!

We would LOVE to have you there Antonios!!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
