All due respects, ma'am, but you haven't told me a single thing I don't already know or know of. Our difference of perspective boils down to, the way I see it, the way the business owner chooses to run his/her business. There's too many who seem to think they basically set up a website & just sit back, apply minimal ongoing effort & the money's supposed to come pouring in. It's a store, not an oil well.

Oh & btw -- I was in the textiles industry myself for 19 years. One of our divisions (where I was Office Mgr) was their 'Double & Fold' operation, putting our fabric onto those bolts you sold from! LOL

Ever hear the name Texfi (for Textured Fibers)? Us.

I don't know what websites YOU are going to.  The online pen stores I go to/patronize are also run by pen aficionados -- many of whom ALSO attend shows (in the case of the Goulets JUST to be consumers and pen geeks like the rest of us).

Maybe instead of whining, you should just stop shopping at those other sites.  Actions speak louder than words.  Especially when money is involved....

Interesting.  Thanks for posting the link.  I keep looking for replacements for when my bottle of MB Leo Tolstoy LE gets used up (although Birmingham Agave might be a little too green-leaning to be the right match).

Probably not. I suspect ice rink will be a closer match. I have Celestial blue nad I think is too muted with a purple undertone.

Great books!!! I don't now Japanese but the swatches and pictures are amazing!large.IMG_0378.jpeg.1984cfe15c1b59ccac5501948cfdc449.jpeg

Wowza! That's one of Ken Takeda's books. The sample pages online certainly do look amazing.

Is the catalog for ordering ink, with pricing, etc.?

And where did get them?

Yeah, I really enjoy that book! I only get the Japanese Color one since I prefer Japanese ink colors.

Yes, but the price and retailer information would only be relevant if you are in Japan. However, there are a lot of online shop websites listed. If you can navigate through that, it's possible to get some inks yourself.

I bought them on Amazon JP then shipped them to USA.

Whining?!? Considering your MANY tales of ripping thru the Customer Service rank & file, that coming from you, madam, is nothing short of hilarious. Might be more exemplary, however, if Madame would curtail her efforts to denigrate me with her verbal abuse and bother to finish reading and/or heeding the rest of my statement vis-a-vis buying elsewhere, as that's exactly what I did! Thank you.

I made practical suggestions.  You were snotty about it.  Maybe I should just block you.

Okay, let me tell you where I'm at on this. First, there's a li'l problem I need to resolve before I can ink it up.  So, no writing jus-s-s-t yet.

~8》

Now, pix. I have been (still am!) practically mesmerized by the beauty of this pen. Moreso at how it changes with the light. The view angle, type of light, its strength, view perspective, background -- you can pan your vision along its length and practically soar thru its depths, each small twist producing a whole new series of chapters to get lost in!  Its something like cruising with your telescope thru the Orion Nebula with good filterage and magnification - a forever journey of wonder. SO robust, in trying to capture some of that to show, I took a LOT of photos. A Lot!!

What I'm about to reveal, I think might've 'overdone' it a bit, but I picked thru the 'library' and from them selected multiple exampes that show some of this 'range', and with help of a newly discovered feature on my camera, strung together a series of images into a sort of 'movie' & uploaded it to th' Toob. Fearing maybe it's 'too much' -- maybe it's 'just me', I'd even asked someone [well known] here if she'd preview & critique for me before I revealed it here. However, at this moment the jury's [understandably] still out on that one. So, with that understanding, I ask your forebearance, and realizing this thread's about inks, not pens, but asked here so answered here, eh wot?

Enough blathering - here she is; hit PLAY & tap 'Full Screen'! ::> https://youtu.be/FEouNiK4csg

[[ And I surely wouldn't mind comments - eager to see, in fact! ]]

I watched the video. What fun with your graphics. And you are so right about the pen, lighting etc.  It’s exactly how you described it as liking through a telescope at the Orion Nebula. Such a beautiful pen. I hope you enjoy it for many years.

Vintage ink.

A bottle of Waterman Marron, which is supposedly different than the current Absolute (né Havane/Havana) Brown. Fingers crossed it is the same grey-ish, olive-y, sepia-toned ink pictured elsewhere. Also, bottles of Parker Penman Emerald and Ruby and another bottle of Mocha. The seller threw in a bottle of vintage Omas Black for free. Note that the Omas is another version of the tippable-without-falling-over bottle.

Don't ya just hate when you want to buy 4 or 5 inks, and you can't find all in a single store? Meaning you're gonna have to place TWO orders [or more!], with the ubiquitous extra shipping charge, which like as not throws out whatever Sale discount you might've found. My luck!

Anyway, pulled the trigger on some Dominant Industry shades I've been curious about....and with some pretty good pricing & shipping cost, except for a couple they were out of.

In no particular order:

Dominant Blue

Lapis Lazuli (Pearl Ser.)

Tanzanite (Pearl Ser.)

Earl Gray Tea (×2)

One I didn't get [OOS], Autumn Forest.

And I don't know why, there's just something about it...but it's haunting me.

I dunno.  Doesn't bother me.  I'm more than happy to patronize various vendors and to keep them in business.  There was one time a year or so back where I had orders for ink in to Goulet Pens, Anderson Pens and Vanness Pens all at the same time, just to get what I wanted (a lot of which were samples, so the price overall wasn't too bad, including the shipping).

And if that means three sets of shipping charges?  Shrug.  Cost of doing business.  I like having options and I like all three companies and will happily support all three.  Because it's sure better than the alternative....  NOT having a lot of vendors.

Hmm I will have to get autumn forest and earl grey.

Related: I went to order sailor manyo hinoki and samples of the rest. Some companies have/had bottles but no samples yet. Instead of waiting for availability of both samples and bottles from the same place, I ended up getting bottles of hinoki and Fuji from Anderson with samples of unrelated stuff at a great price so I can fill future carts with more ink... I just couldn't wait. Yeah it was a little disappointing but so was waiting through all of July with no new manyos. Also Anderson shipped so fast! If my Tuesday Oregon order doesn't go to Puerto Rico, I will see it Friday.

I just ordered Diamine Manggis and Kopi O Kaw from Pen Gallery Malaysia. $50 shipping seemed unconscionable for 2 bottles of ink that cost $25 total so I ordered a Kaweco Collection Red to make it seem more palatable.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I agree, except I don't want to pay three sets of shipping charges all at the same time.  Given how shipping has increased, along with the minimum threshold for free shipping, I am more likely to forgo certain inks at a given point in time and order from one vendor; the next order I will purchase from a different merchant who carries different lines.  I might still get hit with double shipping charges, but I will be spreading them out over time.

There! That'll l'arn 'em!  Yeah!!!

LOL..just kidding of course. But I posted a short while back about finding myself in the very same predicament you describe....& on closer exam I'd bet It's the same seller....only, in my case I decided the shipping was a deal breaker.

Not all lines are drawn in ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
