Hear, hear! You (or better, 'we') aren't the only ones of that opinion either.  While kinda 'grailing' for some,  many comments i came across expressed dismay at its demise.

i managed to pick up a long dried-out bottle with a few flakes & crumbs still inside. I even scraped off & saved what was clinging to the bottle threading & the lid's top gasket. I'm now kinda torn as to how much distilled h2o i might re-introduce to get any effective results....prolly an exercise in futility.

BUT, fates providing, there's a Plan B afoot, which I shan't reveal at this juncture. **ninja**

**wiggling eyebrows**

I've found that Diamine Turquoise (the regular, not Havasu Turquoise) is a pretty close match for color and shading -- Havasu Turquoise is pretty, but a bit too dark to be a good match for Skrip Peacock.

Would you please be kind enough to let us know how the pen clean-up goes after you've used it?  Some things I've seen/heard have made me hesitant to get some of that.

I've used this quite a lot in the last couple of weeks - and haven't had any problems at all with cleanup. I only use inks with shimmer in pens I know I can completely disassemble if necessary, but that hasn't been needed so far.

I'm curious what problems you've heard of?

I can understand in pens keeping a fairly steady flow (use) over a period, but I'm sure some have reserved it for novelty use, hence use & clean every time, & how hard is it to get ALL the glitterzes out?  Maybe even a transcendental sinner who's just left it in there & kinda ¿forgot¿ about it, and.....??  <<====insert horror story here=<<=

Cartridges of Sailor Jentle Blue and Kaweco Midnight Blue, to be received on the 7th.

They arrived today. I must say, Jentle Blue is quite a nice colour!

Oops! Sorry mizgeorge, forgot about this part.  But, staining some clear plastics? especially those that are vegetable-based, & getting ALL the glitter out of feeds (ie it 'showing up' in later-used inks). Good, perhaps best idea I can imagine is using it in pens one designates for its use,  or, if it's potentially problematic, first use in a throwaway until it proves itself.

I think as long as you practice reasonably good pen hygiene, there really isn't much to worry about. I certainly have inks that stain far worse than any shimmmerer, and getting the glitter out is just about good flushing - again, it's easiest to use a pen that comes apart completely, but I don't always, and it's never been an issue. I do find I get better results with wider nibs though.

And all of that said, I have a couple of pens that have had shimmer/glitter inks in them for years, rather than weeks or months (because I've just topped up rather than cleaning) with no ill effects at all. In fact in one case, the ink has become concentrated enough to look completely different, and for the shimmer to make it look more like a night sky than its original summer sea!

Staining is a concern of mine.... I'll confess that I went a little 'Demonstrator Crazy' when I was first getting into the hobby -- that's about the only type I was buying. And believe it or not, none of them were Mont Blancs!  😂  So now I'm in the kinda precarious position of not knowing if I put the wrong ink in, do i 'ruin' the pen?

Growing pangs.

I've stuck everything but notoriously troublesome inks in cheap demonstrators, with absolutely no permanent staining evident (thus far).

Ditto, I've had a couple that needed a fill of Doyou to get them back to sparkling, but never more than that. In fact, they're perfect for shimmer inks as you can actually see where the glitter is, which firstly reminds you to agitate the ink a little for even distribution, and also makes cleanup extra easy as you can see just where it's ended up.

I haven't had to clean it out of my CP-1 but the flow and wetness alone must be a preview to a fine flush

I have also heard good things about it. I think I will pass, as I suspect the shipping to the middle of nowhere in the Canadian prairie will be very pricey, but good to know there is some still out there.

Enjoy!

Just in case it is of interest to you, I just noticed that that ink is part of LCDC's summer sale and is currently only €6 (exc tax).

I ordered - and received faster than I thought - the quartet of La Couronne's in-house colors, "Couleurs du Comte". So far only swabbed them, more testing to be done, but look below, where they are presented nicely in my new cabinet...

😃

PS: more to come about that cabinet, elsewhere :)

Just placed an order with Vanness:

  • SBRE Brown
  • KWZ IG Blue-Black
  • KWZ IG Blue #3

The latter two are new to me, but I am excited about them. I have read that Blue #3 in particular is a lot like Platinum Blue-Black, an ink I really like.

I also have an order in process from Lemur Inks:

  • Iroshizuku Kiri-same
  • Iroshizuku Shin-kai
  • Pilot Blue
  • Pilot Black

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
