I'm not waiting any longer! All the way from the Old Country I received today:

Robert Oster Tiverton Rust - a kind of seaside pink?
Deep Dark Orange - both Cult Pens exclusives

Diamine Music Vivaldi and Wagner
The oranges don't scan well but here are some first impressions:

Tiverton Rust and Deep Dark - Cult Pens.jpg

Diamine Vivaldi & Wagner.jpg

I thought that Wagner would be another Alt GoldGrun, and Vivaldi another Chu Shu, but not at all - rather pleased!

Thanks for the wonderful peek at these four inks, as well as all the comparison inks!

I quite like how Tiverton Rust looks here. Wagner is a distinctive ink that I have not warmed to. Vivaldi was one of my most used inks over the past year and might be my favorite Diamine (close call with Prussian Blue) - glad you are pleased with it.

From @DromgoolesHouston Sailor Las Vegas, and Pineider Alchemy Set.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That Alchemy ink set looks amazing. I read a review online, and the ink set looks like lots of fun. A bit pricey for me, but maybe someday in the future.

I am very cheap when it comes to buying ink, and try to limit myself to $25 per bottle. But I have no qualms purchasing Pelikans.

Always fun reading this threads. Thanks for eye candy.

Well, send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a letter when I ink up with one of the inks.

I broke down an ordered a few Akkerman inks from their official store. Akkerman 8,9,10,28, and 29.

I was mostly interested in #10 and #28. I only have murky or dark greens.

#10 was purchased mostly to write on engineering paper. Hopefully no feathering with an ef Sailor nib. I have about 50 pads of this paper, that has gone unused in 4 years. Mainly due to me solely using fountain pens now.

I now have 35 bottles of ink that have never been opened. Since I only keep 3 bottles one at a time.

Interesting selection. 345 will be on my next order but my normal source doesn't have the others - I might try Aliexpress. From where are you ordering?

Please let us know how you like them.

I ordered an earlier set of PenBBS from AliExpress (Oramile Stationery Store), and those came through just fine, and reasonably quickly. This new set is also from AliExpress, but a different store (E-Shopping Store) -- different ink selection. (In both cases, I got a mix of 10ml & larger sizes). This set is supposed to get here tomorrow. A little longer wait, but not bad.

435 is the only one I've sampled before (through Vanness) -- a darky, murky green-brown.

i couldn't decide between the two so Sailor Yodaki and Oster Astraquiza Rot are both on the way.

Oramile Stationery Store …‹snip›… E-Shopping Store

I'm pretty sure they're just two different storefronts for the same mob. I'm not sure why, but many sellers on AliExpress seem to engage in that practice.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thanks for the info.

435 is high on my wish list. 249 looks intriguing - I wonder if it is more of a taupe or straight grey (?).

From what I can gather (by web search only), the names of the twelve colours in PenBBS Season 16 inks are one particular series of poetic synonyms for the twelve months in the lunar calendar, with #249 子春 (Zichūn) being the name of tenth month.

That may be. I did get charged for shipping each time, and the boxes are arriving a week or so apart, despite being ordered at the same time. Maybe it's a matter of different warehouses.

If you're looking for PenBBS inks on AliExpress, there's a lot of navigating to do. You have to look at each season separately or in some cases groupings by a particular size, or in still other cases someone's idiosyncratic organization of what they think the self-respecting ink psycho would regard as basic.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
