anyone ordered anything interesting lately?

Well not really "ordering", but I want to know how much it is to ship FPN ink to Canada, because I want one bottle and it isn't listed so I can't send a payment yet. So I sent an email 11 days ago... awaiting response...

Are we counting samples on the way? if so, I got a few on the way from Pear Tree Pens..

Diamine Amaranth

Diamine Maroon

Noodlers Tiananmen

Noodlers Red-Black

Private Reserve Black Cherry

Noodlers Golden Brown

Noodlers Walnut

Noodlers Heart of Darkness

Noodlers Navy

Private Reserve Sherwood Green

Private Reserve Shell Pink

Noodlers Blue Ghost Invisible

The first 5 of those are my real interest, I'm looking for the perfect(to me, obviously) dark blood red/maroon/wine type color... not too purple, not too red, not dark, nor bright. The others seemed a good idea, figured one blue, and one black are a nice idea to try, and the green was a hope for something else not too bright, but not blue(not fond of writing in blue). The browns also along that line, not dark, or too bright, but not black(also not fond of writing in black) Who can pass up invisible ink? ;) The pink was a whim to fill out the total # of color in that sampler.

Hate to say it, but I hope I don't like all of them... that's $200+ to get bottles of it all..

Couple of Noodler's: Golden Brown and Chekhov. Really looking forward to trying both.

Cheers,

This seems to be a rather popular thread in the writing instruments forum, so why not in the inky thoughts forum?!

So what are you waiting for?

I have 3 bottles of Diamine on the way: Steel Blue, Jet Black, and Poppy Red. Diamine said they were including a special gift with my order. I understand this means an assortment of ink cartridges. :)

Hope it's not an annoyance, could you list the 15 browns or give us a short review on the top ones that you tested after receipt. I am looking to add some browns, mostly using Levenger Cocoa and PReserve Chocolate.

thanks

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
