I Have the Fellowship Prototype Pens!

Kevin, the pens and the photos are spectacular. The original design definitely has my vote for the very same reason - the travel items at rest implies a time of reflection, review, and renewal before the next journey. It is also a reminder of how to keep it simple as each of us walks down our own road. Thanks for making these special pens possible (and affordable too).

Both designs are very nice and work is absolute perfection. As almost everyone here, I like the first design much more. The photos are excellent! Kevin... Thanks...

Have tried to help out here, sorry if the image is not perfect, hopefully give an extra insight for those lucky enough to be on the list and awaiting delivery of such a gorgeous pen.

Hi Kevin,

I like the first and original design better.

Any news on the new EEF FLEXY nibs?

Any chance of us seeing a writing sample?

Stunning -- wish I could afford one. Even though I'm not buying, I'll say I prefer the first design to the second. All of you who are getting this pen, enjoy!

Wonderful! I can't wait to get mine!

I'm going to have to sell of a bunch of my pens as they simply aren't going to get much use now...

The prototype is what I'd hoped--and more! Thank you again, Kevin, for all your work on this wonderful Danitrio Fellowship pen. I prefer the original and will send you an email regarding my preferences. I really look forward to holding this pen in my hand and watching the words unfold from it.

I am so jealous of you guys! Alas, I am saving for my first Nakaya at the moment, however. Enjoy your gorgeous pen, folks.

I agree with the others that both designs are lovely. The first design is what I expected, and nicer than my imagination. So I will choose the first option as well. However, I do want that silly clam on the bottom of the barrel. I will pay extra if necessary.

Wow! Both designs are gorgeous, but I too prefer the first one. This will be my first maki-e pen. I can't wait!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
