Danitrio Fellowship Pen First Sketch!

I understand and I think you are right!

A pen strictly for us don't need a number.

I appreciate this idea. Very smart and exclusive! Good :happyberet:

Thanks

The problem with having numbers is mainly due to at the moment, I don't know how many to make. If I make 50, and more than 50 wants the pen, we will have many angry folks... and if I have 100 made and only 80 want the pen, then I am stuck with 20 pens... which means, I will have to try to sell them at open market (albeit at higher prices), then it will not be just for FPN only.

Danitrio is very appreciative of all the supports here as I report back to them frequently. Compare to other big pen companies, Danitrio is very small with limited numbers of pens being produced each year. Their non-limited edition pens are often much more limited than other company's sort call limited edition pens. They are willing to forgo their usual mark up on pens in same caliber just for us, now let's see other bigger companies do this for us pen folks. Bexley is another small pen company I know who will often bent backward for their loyal customers.

I do not need any number. This will be a very special pen in every way. Just looking at the way that it is being born, the reason for it to come into life... the special group of heterogeneous people that are the base and reason for its existtence... by itself it is not a fixed number... it is a will made real... the result of spontaneous collective desire and dream...

I think that this is more than enough and much more than a serial number on a limited edition... nothing to do with other theoretical limited editions that are reedited whenever needed...

We are lucky people in sharing this time with a company and with their artisans and people that like to "walk" with us and not "on us"... people that put their best sensibility and craftmanship in making our pen-life a real enjoyable experience...

Perhaps this is a way in which I would say THANKS to every one there... from Kevin to the Big Boss; yes, a small company, but a big heart!

Well... no more blah blah... time for a good sleep!

That sounds good, but I kinda like the green/red and red colors (of the leaves) in the sketch. I thought those would be the colors on the pen.

I don't need numbers on my pen either. Numbers - that is the difference between a "Special Edition" and a "Limited Edition," isn't it? I have been referring to this pen as the "Dani Fellowship SE" because of the decision early on not to number them. That is right, isn't it?

I'm in favor of no numbers. I see no reason why there has to be one batch of pens -- it could be 50 now, and 50 at some later time when more people have been lured into the fold.

The artist sketch of the pen with the haiku written in more cursive form accented by maple leaves. This is because when the poem was written, autumn was coming. We also find Basho's straw hat, sandals and walking stick, typical for travelers of those days. Since the pen is flat top, the cap top will have a maple leaf and the bottom will have a clam. I think the design is simple and not too busy. Couple of prototype will be coming end of June, hopefully.

Great design! Simple, tasteful and to my mind in just the right spirit.

Even without a job right now put me on the list as a 'strong maybe'. I guess I'll have to sell a couple of pens when we get closer.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
