  1. I went to Jetpens to reorder a kokuyo inspiracion (my favorite notebook to use as a refill for the lihit lab twist rings system) and to my horror they don't stock it anymore!! I couldn't even find it on Rakuten, so I suspect it may have been discontinued So now I need your help to replace it! For the general info, here's the old description on Jetpens. And here are the parts that mattered to me: - page size and hole pattern: they're identical to the lihit lab twist ring system (a 3:1 pitch, for binding geeks). This is a must-have - without this there's no point - color and page layout: off-white (cream and ivory would be ok too, just no bright-white), 5mm grid type, but faint (fine and light in color) so it organizes the page without overwhelming the writing. Please, no dot pads - I know many people love them and are excited to recommend them, but I really don't get along with them and would be grateful if you could help me avoid the confusion of having to sort dot-pad recommendations from grid ones :-) - available from a retailer with sane int'l shipping. The inspiracion also had microperforated pages, but since the Lihit is a binder system that's not critical (the neat edge was nice to have when I wanted to give someone a page, but I wouldn't sacrifice the other stuff for microperf'ed pages ) I also liked that the grid pattern extended to cover the whole page, no margins. But I can live with a frame/box style grid, as long as otherwise there's nothing to prevent me from using it in both portrait and landscape mode ) Can you guys think of anything that fits the bill? Or alternatively, just a good place to buy Inspiracion notebooks? At this point I could even stock up and buy several, which should make the shipping situation a bit easier hopefully! thanks!!
  2. Hey, so I'm going into my senior year of high school, and I'm just about to go school supply shopping. I really only need a three-subject or five-subject notebook that's good with fountain pens, so any advice? I prefer the three or five subject ones because they have the folders in them, so are easiest to use for everything. For context, I live in the US and I use a Lamy Safari XF, but will be getting a pen with a finer nib soon. Thank you!!
  3. Hi! I was just wondering which style of notebook binding people prefer. I thought of 3 categories: wirebound, composition, and loose. Here is my view of the weakness and strength of each: Wirebound: Often perforated so sheets can be removed if needed. Could be flipped over on itself (you can make the back touch the front when writing), useful if you don't have a huge desk. The "wires" can get in your way when writing on the left page (or vice versa if you're a leftie) Composition: What happens in the book stays in the book. (pages aren't perforated and if you rips 1 page, the connecting page will also fall out) Generally speaking, no annoying 3 holes on the book. Both front and back are 1 piece (sturdiness). If you accidentally rip the binding connecting the pages and the cover, the book is trashed (the whole thing will come loose) Extraordinarily annoying rise in the center when writing, attempts to squash the pages flat will make the cover come loose or awkwardly hanging open when trying to close it. Loose: No paper underneath, so good for those who prefer the hard desk feeling. Probably the only paper recommended for the "turn-in-business" No annoying bumps in the middle like the other two. Can be lost quite easily Without something to hold the page in place, your other hand will have to accept the job of holding the paper down while writing. I personally is biased toward the wirebound method. What do you like and why?
