    Waterman Nib Identification

Hey guys! I picked up this nib in a Waterman 12 eyedropper for $1.50 (missing the cap) I have it fit in a Noodler's nib creaper for the time being. I would like to know exactly what this nib is... It at least resembles the artist nibs that I have seen (that also tend to be in the 12s) does anyone have an exact ID? The curvature seems to be a bit different that the other artist nibs I've seen... It's a wet noodle for sure. Please pardon my crappy flex writing. Photos shortly
  2. I bought an Eclipse pen on eBay and it just arrived. Warranted nibs were the go-to replacement nibs - you'll find them on every kind of pen, but once in a long while you'll find something like the instrument attached to this pen. It belonged to a professional calligrapher and it really truly does handle like a brush. Interestingly, I think I paid about two hundred dollars less for it than I would have if it were a Waterman of similar qualities...it's what the near-mythical Artist's nib is supposed to be like. I'll try to post some pictures when I get to a computer that will let me.

    Jfdiberian Pens On Ebay

This cunning nib-tinkerer has some nice pieces on eBay: he's taking old pens and making them into very special things. Dear God, he's got ringtops! I may have to bid. This one caught my eye: Waterson flat top fountain pen with over feed, WET NOODLE F-BBB

Calligraphy Nib On A Fountain Pen?

I'm fairly new to the world of fountain pens, and I'm itching to try something with a good amount of flex that I don't have to apply too much pressure to to achieve a lot of line variation. I've tried the noodler's nib creeper, and while it of course had better line variation than a stiff nib, it really wasn't what I was looking for. I know that to get a really good wet noodle fountain pen I'd have to look for a restored vintage pen, but I really don't have anywhere near the budget for that. Given that, I had an idea. I know a lot of calligraphy nibs, although not meant for use in fountain pens, have a huge amount of flex, and I was thinking of getting a calligraphy nib and replacing the nib on one of my fountain pens with it. Does anyone have any ideas of what kind of nibs and pens to use, or want to tell me that this is a terrible idea? Any advice is appreciated!
  5. Now that I've learned how to use flex pens, I'm considering buying a wet noodle. I've looked at items on fleabay but the descriptions don't use the term 'wet noodle' and they don't all include pictures of how the pen writes. How do I tell whether a pen, for example a Waterman 52, really does have a nib which is so flexy that it's almost floppy?
  6. The title says it all really.....suggestions for a modern, and a vintage wet noodle, preferably in UK. Thanks Alex
  7. i've been reading about Wet Noodle nibs, and so much of the replies are that the wet noodles are extinct and old and made from companies off the market now. Whats the youngest pen you or a friend has that you would consider Wet Noodle? Show me some pics if you can, please.
  8. I find that flexible dip nibs are very scratchy and railroad a lot. I have the following nibs: Brause L'ecoliere NibBrause 66EFBrause Rose NibVintage Gillott 404Gillott 404 NibLeonardt Copying Nib DP33Hunt 108 dipped in Noodler's inks, and Parker Quink inkon Nature's Wheat-based Paper Can anyone shed light on this and suggest solutions to get smoother, uninterrupted writing with line width variation? The first thing is I don't expect this, because these are supposed to be a useable selection of implements.
  9. I've seen some vintage Mabie Todd & Co dip pens on ebay, but I cant seem to find any writing samples pens of this sort. I'm looking for some recommendations for some "wet noodle" / super flex dip nibs, nibs/brands to watch out for. I'm guessing something gold, and something pretty old. I'd love to hear from anyone with a good solid background that can link to some examples of how much flex is possible and what to expect when getting into this. Thanks!

    A Modern Day Waterman 52

a few days ago, I had the misfortune of being handed a Waterman 52 to try out. It looked really ordinary until the nib hit the paper. Whoaaaaaaaaaa.... that is the most extraordinary nib I've ever had the chance to use. It is what I wanted my Noodler's Ink Ahab to be. It was perfect. It was old and kinda...well old. Now the question is...is there a modern day equivalent to this pen? Do I have to go vintage? I've seen some mint/NOS Waterman52 going for upwards of $800. Ever since that encounter, I can't think of any other pen. I really really love the perfect feel of that nib.
  11. So I'm looking for a wet noodle, or a fountain pen with a great deal of flex. I will be using it for calligraphy, as well as an everyday pen. I want one that is under $100 and will ship to CANADA. I have recently bought a vintage waterman 518?, or something similar that claimed to have a flex nib. I think it's more of a semi-flex. I have attached 2 files, small writing samples of my namiki falcon, and one of my waterman. I would like to know what these would be classified as in terms of flexibility. As well as where I could find a wet noodle. Lastly, I'm 13 and use fountain pens only. Is this normal?
