    The Future Of Stationery

Dear All, We're writing here this time to announce that we have launched a Design Competition entitled "The Future of Stationery' We have already published it in all the main design websites, Here a resume: The future of stationery. 2020 Venvstas Italy design competition. What's on your desk and what will continue to be on it in the years to come? Although we are living in a time where the bulk of our information is produced by computers, there's still room for the analog. Most of what we draw is on paper, calligraphy is considered an art and greatest designs and artistic ideas start as a small sketch or a note of some kind on a piece of paper. Venvstas was founded in 2014 as a branch of a design office (Lucio Rossi design/U75). Today it has its own life and its producing some of the most interesting writing instruments and accessories one can find. We think that the tools we use have to be inspiring, have to be holders of a certain quality and a design that has to resist the test of time. Make now something for today but thinking about tomorrow. We believe in objects that are to be kept through the years, meaning that they will not be part of the current cycle of fast introduction and disposal. If something is well designed, well made and looks beautiful, it will be more likely to be kept. The current times are tough ones for each of us although they show as a test, an opportunity where hopefully designers will start to understand such values, as the ones that are the pillars of our brand, the Vitruvian triad, that can apply to anything that's designed or built, not only architecture. Firmitas. A building has to be strong. Vtilitas. A building has to serve to a purpose. Venvstas. A building has to have the qualities of Venus. It has to be beautiful. If any single object that's designed in our planet would follow these simple principles, (or at least one) the situation regarding waste and obsolescence would be a different one. If a product is made to last, recycling is not anymore the issue it is nowadays, as little of what's produced and labeled as recyclable ever gets recycled being at best up-cycled. Since we are still too far from a “cradle to cradle” model we should start focusing in producing less waste and we strongly believe that one way is by doing better objects and fostering endurance, both in built quality and design. Our contribution to the current crisis is to make you to think on this reality and the different opportunities it could bring. It's a time not to be still, it's a time for ideas and movement, it's the time to think on how we're going to live in the near future, it is not anymore just a matter of the planet we'll leave to future generations, but the planet we live in now. The task: Design a concept, an object or a product that is in line with the theme: The future of stationery. This refers to any product that fits the category «stationery», like writing equipment, notebooks, desk accessories or anything that you may feel belongs to a desk and can be suitable for home or office use or both. Products can be aimed at the general public, professionals or hobbyists alike. The entry is FREE, there's no fee. Submission is via the internet. More: https://www.venvstas.com/ Thank you!

  7. Dear Community: It's been a long time since the last post on the network but its our first time as Venvstas Italy. We are taking this moment to communicate (despite the difficulties we're all facing) that since mid 2019 Venvstas Paris has changed hands, we're a new company now and we are based and producing in Italy. Therefore its now Venvstas Italy. We will make a new account here on the network soon where we will be posting our news from the brand as we would like to communicate directly with the community. These days we are committed to re-design and re-build all communication channels and specially our you tube channel where you'll be able to see our new carbon collection. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUQ9lT1PZrDjbxRHyFbWhOQ We have put a lot of work and effort on the new collection, and so we did with the new videos (we'll be adding more). We have left some of the old ones (Venvstas Paris) for a short period of time so you can take a look on some of the old Parisian models, as we're currently working on developing them for large scale manufacturing. They are great designs, but so far we have started with the linear carbon ones, as they were the most challenging of all. Our webstore is still open, but we are shipping only via DHL EXPRESS at the moment, alternatively you may also find our products via some very well known retailers in the community. You can visit our website. https://www.venvstas.com/ or follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/venvstas/ Looking forward for your visit ! (comments are currently disabled, as we're still building up the channel.) Our best wishes and happy Eastern on these challenging times The new Venvstas team.

    Venvstas D'art

This is my first formal fountain pen review. Today's subject is the Venvstas D'art. https://www.venvstas.com/dart This is a custom plastic lacquered fountain pen in an irregular geometric form. From the website, the description is; Hexagonal irregular section 12mm/15mm - 5mm ink feed, length 155mm closed, 143mm open. Cap do not post. Weight 15g loaded. Links to all photos are here https://photos.app.goo.gl/3ZjY3wF8wyvfP6pU8 The nib is a bit of a nail and feels a lot like using a ballpoint pen. You don't have to adjust the pressure too much so this makes it a very suitable beginner's fountain pen. I grip the pen normally and the irregular shapes aligns with my finger placement. I didn't have to contort or hold it any different. The pen was comfortable for long writing sessions. The nib and feed keeps the pen wet for fast writing without any issue. The ink also doesn't dry up for extended 4-5 days sitting idle in the pen cap. Overall, a solid fountain pen and a bit of a conversational starter with its unique shape. edit: trying to upload pictures, but it keeps failing will save this post as a place marker for now

    The D'art Second Series

The first series sold out, but the new series is on the way. The New series features a re-designed section, a slimmer body while keeping the same profile and unique look of this very unique design. Take a look! Your feedback was very much taken into account ! https://www.venvstas.com/dart
  11. We would like to present to you a new model that will be available SOON. The all new Venvstas D'art. We have been looking on this and other forums of the like, blogs, u-tube channels, and in a plethora of similar branches, and its remarkable how much chinese clones seem to gain terrain offering decent pens for the money and to some extend not only “inspired by” but falsifications of a very known german pen (in the picture below). Why somebody as a maker would like to make a falsification? Anyway. We have been looking with attention on how other metal pens inspired by, that are looking like this or that are also gaining space, wgy not to make something different? Is it possible? Well, yes! The pen is made of plastic (lets finish with the precious resin strategy to charge more for ordinary plastic, no plastic is precious by definition, if you want a precious resin, look for amber maybe), the nib is in steel and it is a cartridge pen, but, not only you can feed it with international/european type of cartridges but you can also feed it with your Lamy ones. We think this is important, as whats the point to be buying stuff that's not compatible if you like certain inks? We think we now can offer you an alternative in the sub 50 bucks zone, where very few are offering something that looks good, if you are looking for something different, at a reasonable price and with little waiting time. *ergonomic design *design that is TODAY and will be TOMORROW *Designed and made in Paris, *Nibs made in Germany. *Price below 40 euros *Lamy and Pelikan/european/international compatible.

    Vacumatic Revisited

This is a prototype at the moment for a pen that will be made in very small quantities. 10 (ten) The pen is all hand made, it was born out of an experiment, making a pen with an overlay and ink window, personally I like the syringe type, but in this case, an overlay made more clear the need for a longer body and a small blind cap and a big ink reservoir, therefore I thought why not to make a vacumatic type of pen, but, we do not have diaphragms, and they complicate the construction of the pen, the solution was to replace what in a parker would be a latex diaphragm by the same type of pistons we use in slim pens like the vulcain and calame. One member of the forum asked me why not to make a vacumatic, but the diaphragm is something I dont like, since latex dries out quickly, it decomposes quickly and gets eaten by some inks,.......to make it short, you move a piston instead. The breath tube is made of inox built in the carbon fiber feed which is 6mm (nobody makes those, except us) and comes from another pen that's been in the catalog that uses them, therefore the whole unit can be easily taken away for cleaning. The whole pen can be dismantled by taken away the two screws, that removes the piston unit and the overlay everything at once. So you can clean it.

    Life With The Venvstas T-Noire

A few months ago I posted a review here on a preproduction model fountain pen, the T-Noire, I was fortunate enough to obtain from French pen company Venvstas. Heres my review: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/328936-the-newest-pen-from-venvstas-the-t-noire/?hl=venvstas Lucio Rossi, Venvstass designer and founder, has proven to be a very friendly and approachable chap, more than happy to talk about the pen business in general and his own in particular. But my reason for posting today is that I wanted to give you an update on life with the Venvstas T-Noire as a long-term writing companion. The verdict is in, and its generally positive. The converter I was originally sent with my pen was a bit substandard, and started to leak a few weeks in. Luckily, I had a supply of Pelican Edelstein Tanzanite long cartridges, which fit perfectly, so i switched the converter out for one of those. Guess what, 6 weeks later and nary a leak. I really really like this pen. Its function-over-form design appeals to me, and it fits my hand perfectly. The nib is smooth and dependable, and its easy to clean and maintain. Its not fussy, its just a good, well-designed, excellent writing instrument. One hopes Lucio keeps making them for a good long time.

  15. Last days for a very small campaign on indiegogo for a new model based on our Carbon T The link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/noire-by-lr-drawing#/ a review of the pen you can find here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/328936-the-newest-pen-from-venvstas-the-t-noire/
  16. I have placed a few pics that are resuming the year at https://www.venvstas.com/
  17. A few weeks back I reviewed the Venvstas 78, a unique carbon fiber fountain pen from French designer Lucio Rossi. Read it here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/328444-the-venvstas-78-a-unique-pen-from-a-small-designer/ Now, I've got a new Venvstas to review: The T Noire. This is a pre-production model, not yet available in the US, and Mr. Rossi was kind enough to let me purchase one in favor of a Carbon T. In fact, I am the only person in the US with this particular pen. Hopefully, this will change soon, because Venvstas is looking to mass-produce the T-Noire and distribute it in the US, among other markets, and if this pre-production model is any indication, it should be a rousing success. First of all, I am a huge fan of the Venvstas aesthetic. Simple and clean without being boring, the T-Noire has a nearly seamless black fiberglass body. It's shiny without being slick, nor is it a fingerprint magnet. The fiberglass is light and pleasant to hold, and while it is the same circumference as a 78, it somehow feels thicker. As with the 78, the entire barrel is the grip, so you can hold the pen virtually anywhere you like and not harm the balance. And it is well-balanced; the fiberglass and steel cap can be posted to add a little length to the pen (I like to post), but it isn't necessary. The nib is decidedly different from the 78--Rossi calls it a "Rotring style" nib; to me, it looks like the nib on the new Caran d'Ache 849. While I didn't like that pen, I did like the nib, and I like this one too. In fact, it's rapidly becoming my favorite nib. In medium, it's smooth without being glassy, lays down a wet line without pooling ink on the page, and always starts on demand. It's a standard cartridge/converter pen, and the refill is held in place by steel fins that come up about halfway on a standard short cartridge. I like this because you often find pens whose refills wobble about and even detach with normal use; that won't happen with the T. The thing I like best about the T-Noire, I think, is the way everything fits together. The section is friction fit to the body, so no unscrewing needed. Just pull it out. The nib and feed are friction fit inside the section, so pull them out when you need to clean the pen. When you're finished, just fit everything back together so the seams disappear. Lovely. When the pen is capped, it looks seamless and slim; uncapped the nib is the focal point. In your hand it feels solid yet light, perfect for extended writing sessions. Too often, it seems to me, small pen designers make pens that focus too much on exotic barrel and cap materials and too little on the actual writing components--not so with Venvstas. These are writers' pens, pens you'll be happy and proud to use every day at work, or at school, or anywhere. The T-Noire is featured as part of a new Indiegogo campaign, so you can pre-order now if you wish, here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/noire-by-lr-drawing#/. Mr. Rossi is serious about his customer service, so you don't have to worry about getting a quality product. If something happens, he'll make it right. Reading over this review, I know I sound like a bit of a cheerleader. But with the current state of the pen world today, I believe we need more designers like Rossi and Venvstas. For instance, Esterbrook pens are made in India (and marked up 1000%). Monteverde and Conklin are made in China, and priced like they're made in Ohio. Their nibs are hit or miss. Stipula Splash pens are rebadged Dollar Pens (also marked up 1000% or more). We need a pen designer who makes what he sells, and makes it with care and passion. Rossi fits that bill. And the T-Noire is a fantastic pen as a result.
  18. Well, the original design as I got tons of mails for this pen, its available finally, although its a very difficult pen to do so it takes time. The system has been tested over 6 months now, the first VAC are shipping by the end of novemeber (the carbon fiber version) A video will be posted soon with the pen in action. A really different pen, even for our standards. https://www.venvstas.com/shamash enjoy.

  22. As I posted somewhere in FB, we have three pens until the end of the year to go out. The first one is this pen, I get questions like what's your everyday pen? So I decided to make a copy of my everyday pen. The pen is just a Carbon T (my favorite design) with glossy black body and gold hardware. I like the 18k nibs in B, so I made that. It has also a clip. Thing I don't use, but it has one. Its was prototype I just kept for my everyday use, and I think you might enjoy. (you can have it in EF/F/M too of course) Custom grinding, no. The gold is not for making a more expensive pen, its just that I like the way it feels, its what I like to use, besides, the Carbon T was never available with gold nibs before. The second is the "vacumatic", there's an older post here around about that pen, which at the end will be in a less hardcore version as the first prototype, the thing is simple, a piston goes instead of the diaphragm, I'm not the first one in doing that, you'll see a very interesting prototype by Conid from some years ago (it never went into production) that has this feature, what yes its exclusive of our vacumatic is the use of a custom feed in carbon fiber (not a cartridge feed or case that gets modified) with a stainless steel breath tube, plus, the lack of blind cap, the button locks by itself. we deiced to just think in a different solution for that. and the third is a pen so different to whatever you have ever seen that, that's everything I'm gonna say about it. It will be presented in the Paris Design week, we're currently working on the prototypes, afterwards it has to be registered, its just, it's just too different, I think is a pen that will get to be a classic in the future, so stay tuned for that one. Now the specs of the Carbon T Venvstas Carbon T LR Signature Materials: Glossy carbon fiber body with gold plated clip. System: International long/Short cartridges/converter. Converter included. Nibs: EF/F/M/B 18k solid gold. Dimensions: Idem Carbon T. Length:145 mm closed, 10mm diameter. Weight: 18g Number of pieces: limited to 25. Carbon Fiber Pen case included. Delivers in October. https://www.venvstas.com/carbont Some reviews, https://fountainpenfollies.com/2017/05/30/pen-review-the-new-and-improved-venvstas-carbon-t-fountain-pen/ This one is in japanese......Venvstas is kind of popular in japan.... https://drawrush.com/venvstas-carbon-t-review/
  23. We are happy to announce that we won a competition to be part of the Paris design week, we will be there with our own space, if you don't know, this is one of the most important design events worldwide. As a designer this is quite a very important thing, plus, seems the pens are getting some attention.. To celebrate I've made a second prototype of the "vacumatic" type, (that uses a piston and a spring instead of the rubber diaphragm) this one won't be a limited run, probably will stay for a while, the other pen is on hold, as this one is getting my attention now for some reasons. Figures are similar, except the weight, but, the one here has been my everyday pen, it turned out to be quite a workhorse, it has no "blind cap" as the button is locked by a mechanism inside, the construction is carbon fiber instead of steel, and the ink windows are larger. he prototype in the pictures has a titanium nib, most likely the pen will have options for 14k or 18k N6 custom nibs, but eventually I shall take a look on working out a titanium nib, as to me has more to do with the spirit of the pen, It's also made with a carbon fiber ink feed with stainless steel micro tube, that was specially designed and developed for this pen, also the nib case is made of carbon fiber. There's little metal actually, the pen is very light and its the most complicated design I've done so far so far...The final version will have some changes though, the cap will post (this one cannot), and I'll add an option for a clip, in carbon, so that's under development now. The system is really fun to use, I would say that's more of a toy than anything else, but from the other design, I like the fact that there's no blind cap. Not available yet. Im posting to see the reaction, as its a very maybe "strange" pen. here the pictures, Cheers LR
  24. This one was announced long ago, and finally we decided to put it out. Its an interesting pen with a nice blend of materials, the cartridge version may not be ever out, but at least this one (the piston version) is. Its a rather big pen, still streamlined with a body in a mixture of carbon fiber and steel 10 to 11mm thick and 2.0ml of ink capacity. No clip, cap do not post. Its a desk pen. Although its a pen I personally use a lot and its my everyday carry pen, because its just a tank, very tough, loads lots of ink, and as being a pen designer makes you be with lots of pens, so at the end you are not attached to any..but this one I am..pimp of pens call me, sounds horrible or like a name for a new subrand of sailor pens "sailor pimp of pens" so lets just let it be the Saturne. So, here is the Saturne, nibs 6mm now only in rhodium plated 14k gold. Thats standard for the pen. link for more info on the pen: https://www.venvstas.com/saturne Looking for your comments !
