    The Future Of Stationery

Dear All, We're writing here this time to announce that we have launched a Design Competition entitled "The Future of Stationery' We have already published it in all the main design websites, Here a resume: The future of stationery. 2020 Venvstas Italy design competition. What's on your desk and what will continue to be on it in the years to come? Although we are living in a time where the bulk of our information is produced by computers, there's still room for the analog. Most of what we draw is on paper, calligraphy is considered an art and greatest designs and artistic ideas start as a small sketch or a note of some kind on a piece of paper. Venvstas was founded in 2014 as a branch of a design office (Lucio Rossi design/U75). Today it has its own life and its producing some of the most interesting writing instruments and accessories one can find. We think that the tools we use have to be inspiring, have to be holders of a certain quality and a design that has to resist the test of time. Make now something for today but thinking about tomorrow. We believe in objects that are to be kept through the years, meaning that they will not be part of the current cycle of fast introduction and disposal. If something is well designed, well made and looks beautiful, it will be more likely to be kept. The current times are tough ones for each of us although they show as a test, an opportunity where hopefully designers will start to understand such values, as the ones that are the pillars of our brand, the Vitruvian triad, that can apply to anything that's designed or built, not only architecture. Firmitas. A building has to be strong. Vtilitas. A building has to serve to a purpose. Venvstas. A building has to have the qualities of Venus. It has to be beautiful. If any single object that's designed in our planet would follow these simple principles, (or at least one) the situation regarding waste and obsolescence would be a different one. If a product is made to last, recycling is not anymore the issue it is nowadays, as little of what's produced and labeled as recyclable ever gets recycled being at best up-cycled. Since we are still too far from a “cradle to cradle” model we should start focusing in producing less waste and we strongly believe that one way is by doing better objects and fostering endurance, both in built quality and design. Our contribution to the current crisis is to make you to think on this reality and the different opportunities it could bring. It's a time not to be still, it's a time for ideas and movement, it's the time to think on how we're going to live in the near future, it is not anymore just a matter of the planet we'll leave to future generations, but the planet we live in now. The task: Design a concept, an object or a product that is in line with the theme: The future of stationery. This refers to any product that fits the category «stationery», like writing equipment, notebooks, desk accessories or anything that you may feel belongs to a desk and can be suitable for home or office use or both. Products can be aimed at the general public, professionals or hobbyists alike. The entry is FREE, there's no fee. Submission is via the internet. More: https://www.venvstas.com/ Thank you!

  6. Dear Community: It's been a long time since the last post on the network but its our first time as Venvstas Italy. We are taking this moment to communicate (despite the difficulties we're all facing) that since mid 2019 Venvstas Paris has changed hands, we're a new company now and we are based and producing in Italy. Therefore its now Venvstas Italy. We will make a new account here on the network soon where we will be posting our news from the brand as we would like to communicate directly with the community. These days we are committed to re-design and re-build all communication channels and specially our you tube channel where you'll be able to see our new carbon collection. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUQ9lT1PZrDjbxRHyFbWhOQ We have put a lot of work and effort on the new collection, and so we did with the new videos (we'll be adding more). We have left some of the old ones (Venvstas Paris) for a short period of time so you can take a look on some of the old Parisian models, as we're currently working on developing them for large scale manufacturing. They are great designs, but so far we have started with the linear carbon ones, as they were the most challenging of all. Our webstore is still open, but we are shipping only via DHL EXPRESS at the moment, alternatively you may also find our products via some very well known retailers in the community. You can visit our website. https://www.venvstas.com/ or follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/venvstas/ Looking forward for your visit ! (comments are currently disabled, as we're still building up the channel.) Our best wishes and happy Eastern on these challenging times The new Venvstas team.

  14. As I posted somewhere in FB, we have three pens until the end of the year to go out. The first one is this pen, I get questions like what's your everyday pen? So I decided to make a copy of my everyday pen. The pen is just a Carbon T (my favorite design) with glossy black body and gold hardware. I like the 18k nibs in B, so I made that. It has also a clip. Thing I don't use, but it has one. Its was prototype I just kept for my everyday use, and I think you might enjoy. (you can have it in EF/F/M too of course) Custom grinding, no. The gold is not for making a more expensive pen, its just that I like the way it feels, its what I like to use, besides, the Carbon T was never available with gold nibs before. The second is the "vacumatic", there's an older post here around about that pen, which at the end will be in a less hardcore version as the first prototype, the thing is simple, a piston goes instead of the diaphragm, I'm not the first one in doing that, you'll see a very interesting prototype by Conid from some years ago (it never went into production) that has this feature, what yes its exclusive of our vacumatic is the use of a custom feed in carbon fiber (not a cartridge feed or case that gets modified) with a stainless steel breath tube, plus, the lack of blind cap, the button locks by itself. we deiced to just think in a different solution for that. and the third is a pen so different to whatever you have ever seen that, that's everything I'm gonna say about it. It will be presented in the Paris Design week, we're currently working on the prototypes, afterwards it has to be registered, its just, it's just too different, I think is a pen that will get to be a classic in the future, so stay tuned for that one. Now the specs of the Carbon T Venvstas Carbon T LR Signature Materials: Glossy carbon fiber body with gold plated clip. System: International long/Short cartridges/converter. Converter included. Nibs: EF/F/M/B 18k solid gold. Dimensions: Idem Carbon T. Length:145 mm closed, 10mm diameter. Weight: 18g Number of pieces: limited to 25. Carbon Fiber Pen case included. Delivers in October. https://www.venvstas.com/carbont Some reviews, https://fountainpenfollies.com/2017/05/30/pen-review-the-new-and-improved-venvstas-carbon-t-fountain-pen/ This one is in japanese......Venvstas is kind of popular in japan.... https://drawrush.com/venvstas-carbon-t-review/
  15. We are happy to announce that we won a competition to be part of the Paris design week, we will be there with our own space, if you don't know, this is one of the most important design events worldwide. As a designer this is quite a very important thing, plus, seems the pens are getting some attention.. To celebrate I've made a second prototype of the "vacumatic" type, (that uses a piston and a spring instead of the rubber diaphragm) this one won't be a limited run, probably will stay for a while, the other pen is on hold, as this one is getting my attention now for some reasons. Figures are similar, except the weight, but, the one here has been my everyday pen, it turned out to be quite a workhorse, it has no "blind cap" as the button is locked by a mechanism inside, the construction is carbon fiber instead of steel, and the ink windows are larger. he prototype in the pictures has a titanium nib, most likely the pen will have options for 14k or 18k N6 custom nibs, but eventually I shall take a look on working out a titanium nib, as to me has more to do with the spirit of the pen, It's also made with a carbon fiber ink feed with stainless steel micro tube, that was specially designed and developed for this pen, also the nib case is made of carbon fiber. There's little metal actually, the pen is very light and its the most complicated design I've done so far so far...The final version will have some changes though, the cap will post (this one cannot), and I'll add an option for a clip, in carbon, so that's under development now. The system is really fun to use, I would say that's more of a toy than anything else, but from the other design, I like the fact that there's no blind cap. Not available yet. Im posting to see the reaction, as its a very maybe "strange" pen. here the pictures, Cheers LR
  16. Hello, I would like to present a new model that will be out in around two months, it will be our last design of the year and a special run will be made of only 10 to 15 pieces with customized 6mm big 14k or 18k nibs, (customization included in the price!) the pen is as follows, (also some specifications you can find on the pictures) resistant composite construction, high glossy lacquered body, carbon fiber nib casing mechanism, gold plated, piston mechanism in fiber glass and carbon fiber, with 2.2ml ink capacity, (twice a M149) the size of the pen is similar to a M600, name of the pen Venvstas M33 "parisienne" The Pen has a gold plated clip, cap do post, if you are interested on it just message me, the pen is not in the website, and yes, it cost far less than a M149. Made in Paris. Weight is around 30 grams, loaded (and with the cap)
  17. Dear fountain pen people. One of our best known models have been re-designed and we are going to give away 2 different pens for review and testing purposes before making them available. You can pick the nib you want, and you will be able to keep the pen afterwards, current reviews here or online are from very early models or from stuff that has been changed, or discontinued, or both, plus there is almost no information on the pens. The only condition is that you did already at least 3 reviews on the FPN, that you follow the FPN guide for reviewing, and having a blog or a U-tube channel is a plus, and more important, that you're willing to do it. That said you can message here (private of course) and/or write @ info@venvstas.com Thank you! www.venvstas.com Follow us:https://fr-fr.facebook.com/Venvstas-Paris-614789062006667/https://twitter.com/venvstashttps://www.instagram.com/venvstas/https://fr.pinterest.com/venvstas/
  18. just a message to present the video channel that is a complement of the new re designed site, http://www.venvstas.com Although we're going to be sending some pens for reviews (there's a post on that) in order to offer more information due to the fact that what is online is always from the same pens and models that have been re-designed, discontinued or both, and that the fact that everything you put online stays there, the idea was to provide an alternative by making a new channel. We don't want to make a site tampered with videos, the design of the site (still under development) follows that of the pens, so the alternative is to place a channel in utube, to offer a complement for the information that's already there. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUQ9lT1PZrDjbxRHyFbWhOQ This is the link with different types of videos on pens and/or their accessories. I hope that will give you a broader idea on the pens, and tings, because at the end everything has a different logic, materials and aesthetics, systems, which are out of the norm. Take a look, and thank you. maybe it's also something that may add to what's your pen literacy, who knows, Quality of the videos and timing will be improved, I'll be updating the videos information and characteristics on the products to not just let old content to pile up. You can subscribe. comments are out because we cannot afford to take much energy on the different medias, so if any question, just go directly to the inbox info@venvstas.com thanks again. I left you here with one sketch to show you how starts a design of any of these things.
  19. Thoughts On The Carbon V, A Kickstarter Insight. Usually Im posting here pictures of pens, using this platform to make users, clients whoever to notice what Im doing. I have written a lot on who am I and what do I do by the time of the kickstarter campaign, which to date has been a commercial failure (although a successful campaign) and a financial problem for me. Kickstarter is full of things, good things, bad things, but they all have something in common, attractive prices sometimes and originality. Without this there's no kickstarter. What's the point? Kickstarter is to start something, and that's great, and in the way it may be a success it may be a failure. Most campaigns do get found, but most projects don't see the next phase, which is the company, where you get clients from somewhere else. Most brands, or people behind the brands in kickstarter should not make more than one or two campaigns, and this is because the risk is to become very quickly a “kickstarter brand” and be in a comfort zone, where the community works as a close market and you know you'll make some buck. Moreover I can say that many of the pens in kickstarter are made by the same company in china. I know this because they contacted me after the campaign to make a metal pen for them. This is fine, as you can say that Jowo/Schmidt/Bock are making all of the nibs out there, and most of the nibs of all the medium/small sized pen brands in the west, but the point is, that one thing is to make a product, another to start a brand and a workshop that produces a good. I have nothing against producing in china. I still remember when products coming from china where of poor quality and a copy of some other things made in the west or in Japan. And if you go even further back, that is how japan started. Today your iphone “designed in california” is chinese, and you don't mind. Soon you in the future you won't even mind that's designed in china, as I had countless of chinese students, and they will do what I have taught to them, and that's good. You dont think about it. But yes Im against low prices, slave workmanship pollution and I wonder how much suffer is behind each of those products we buy for little prices, at least little for the retailer, not you, and thinking that if you get them for such low prices, what is actually the cost of them? Close to nothing. Even the iphone gets a price multiplied many times until it gets to your hand. I live in europe and I want to produce in europe. Its difficult, but not impossible. Part of the big crisis we're facing is that we have a part of the world producing and another just consuming and living at expenses of a cut, and at the end, its going to be a disaster as there's no balance. When I got to kickstarter I knew from before that I wanted to make design objects that were different, and being different in this world is risky. To summarize I combined my design capabilities (I'm an architect, designer, musician and painter and former professor of architecture and design) to make a fountain pen I would like to use, as to what I find on the market, nothing I really like. I wanted a pen in a modern material with a decent nib and lightweight. I wanted a pen that would have a design that reflects my thoughts. The rest is a difficult path of scaling that up not with difficulties, new materials, combinations of materials, new filling mechanisms, notebooks, an ink that won't destroy my pens and dries quickly, pencils in the fashion I want and so on. I'm still changing and delivering some of this Carbon V pens!, where you may find very early models that I have been changing in reviews here and there, which are terrible. Therefore the delay with this pen. Making an almost all carbon fiber pen, and not just a metallic pen with some carbon fiber parts is not an easy job. Moreover, working with it is unhealthy and dangerous, and tolerances are very difficult to manage. I can say now that I fully understand the material and I can make things with no problem, but that took over a year of essay and trial. I think there's room for these pens on the market. A market where I can find a pattern of 3 basic pens, spanning countless small, medium big brands from anywhere on the world. Where nobody wants to risk anything in terms of a new design, where coping the lamy safari by 10 in china is just good. I was contacted by one of these chinese makers once, to make a design for them. I thought that's better to work for them than rather being just copied, well, after sending the bill, I never had any answer, nor the money from them to just discover that they decided to just make yet another lamy safari clone........How many reviews are out there of these chinese copies? Would you buy a clone of an iphone? Anyway, I have been looking and looking pen reviews on modern fountain pens to always get the veteran lamy 2000 as a result. Its fine, even I have one of those, but is 50 years old. A lot in design has happened since, and although fountain pens are a lot about nostalgia, in design, a chair is still a chair, a car still goes on the same basic principles since it's invention, so, why not a pen? I have explored this subject in all my designs and work as an architect, and Im just writing this after some things I have found of a thing that was not perfect but its on the way. I have thought many times in finishing the carbon V, and just quite, but I think its a good design, at least fresh, and as somebody pointed out here in an old review in the FPN, the carbon V could be an iconic design, well, its just a pen, but in a way, its more than that, it reflects a way of thinking, mine, that in the current circumstances seems to be against something I quite don't get. Best wishes, Lucio Rossi http://www.venvstas.com

    From Paris

Hi everybody, I'm writing here because I have no idea where I should write. But I think those from the industry should write somewhere to make our products visible, specially things like what I have today. I think they fit the spirit of the pen collector and/or pen aficionado. One is called the Magna, a 3.2ml oversize pen. Our first oversize pen. Still a fair slim pen. The second is called the "Avance", advance in English, its I think the only pen ever that can be said it's 100% carbon fiber. another big pen, bur still streamlined. I have many designs in carbon, but you always need some metal here and there, even the ink feeds are plastic, (not reinforced plastic with carbon fibers) In this one, even the feed is not plastic or ebonite, its made of carbon. I have developed a design for a feed in carbon and well, after many versions trials and development it finally works. It's very similar to an ebonite feed. in fact you cannot tell the difference if you're not told. There's no metal in the pen except for 3 screws that are putting the whole thing together. The ink feeding mechanism is quite different to what's out there, and is what I think it's the best I have achieved in that field. It's very simple, you can really load and flush ink in a blink, again, up to 2.5ml which is enough... Both are nice toys. Nevertheless I want to present here two new models that are coming out. Both I think are more oriented to what could interest the pen enthusiast/hobbyist looking for something new. Our models have been always more oriented to other public, but I see some discussions here about pens from me, and I have slowly moved into developing objects that are more to what I perceive this site more about. Both pens are ranging from 2.5 to 3.2ml of ink, that's achieved because of the tolerances carbon fiber has. walls in the pen body are thinner keeping this pens between 11 to 12mm, you'll notice that similar capacity pens in any acrylic or celluloid are about 15mm or so.......they just have thicker walls because of the weakness of the material involved. Nibs are in steel as standard but they can be fitted with gold 14k/18k with nib customization (only for gold nibs) upon request. check the site for more information on this and other pens. www.venvstas.com
  22. VENVSTAS

    Hello, We Are Venvstas

We're ATELIER VENVSTAS PARIS As this is the hello part, I would like to introduce myself, and our brand, and let's say our official corner in this community. We would like to post here news and information regarding our products. My name is Lucio Rossi, and the main person behind ATELIER VENVSTAS PARIS. I'm the designer of all the pens and things you see in our website. Not only the designer but the person who has also engineered them. I'm a designer, or more precisely an architect (that's why it's Venvstas, it's because of the Vitrubian triad, Vtilitas, Firmitas, Venvstas), You can check some of my work as an architect and designer here, in the office web site: www.utopos75.com I started Venvstas first in Germany, while living in Paris, that's why some models have German names, Schreiber, Schreibmeiser and Carbonmeister. Eventually I moved back the idea to France. Venvstas is about design and in this small expression, the fountain pen. We expect to make not only a bunch of very nice pens, we're committed to make very good designs, the best from my time, fountain pens that are coming from today and projecting to tomorrow, I personally think that there are many new pen makers out there, I know them all, from the smallest to the biggest and I still think that there's not so many new things to see from most of them, Fountain pens are booming again, but in a sort of repetitive way, I think repetition and imitation is boring. We have different models, all made in France, in Paris, now up to 12, most models have different variants so they're something like 17 different pens and growing, as soon we'll be introducing more, specially the upper ones that are mostly pull fillers, a system I personally love. Closer into the future we'll be introducing more pens in the upper segment that are mostly pull fillers, ranging from 1.6ml to 4ml. I think it's enough ink capacity.... When thinking on a filling system, I was surprised to see that pull fillers have been totally overlooked for years. We also have variations on them; The system is easy to clean, to maintain, quick to fill, I look at my old Tintenkuli piston filler and the displacement of most piston fillers it's the same as a pull filler. It took me quite a while to know that it was first introduced in 1893......still I think it's the best way for filling a fountain pen. I found Mr; Binder says that too...My everyday pen now is a Venvstas that's using a variation of that system; Nevertheless I got here and I made an account. I've been reading a few posts that are in the site, I expect to see more over time, I'm always happy to discuss about pens, ideas, filling systems, brands, nibs, materials and so on. Also design, architecture, music and art. My approach is that we do not want consumers. We want customer, so to us, our relation to them is different. I don't believe in marketing, corporatism, companies in the way are today, I see things are changing, the relationship can now with technology be closer to the client, and I think I'm the only designer that ever attempted to make a pen company, so things are different. I don't believe in doing what I think people want, I believe in doing designs, as everything can be recreated, changed, updated, so fountain pens. After thinking a lot if I should or not get into kickstarter, I decided to just jump on it. I thought that it was not a good idea as we could be locked into the “kickstarter pen” sector. I think in kickstarter there are some nice pens, but mostly is the same one. This is a turned aluminum block with a Bock or Schmidt nib. Looks that they were done just to make quick money, (really I think they are so, except one of them the rest, they can only make sales thrugh kickstarter, but they won't make it throughout) and we don't want that. I have limited the sales in the platform, I have a roof, and that's it. There's a limited amount of Carbon Vs for that and at that price, as I'm not intrested in doing something that will be just éphémère. We don't want to sell a lot via kickstarter, we just want to start. And for that, I think is good, its what is needed. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1082267836/carbon-v-fountain-pen I shall make a post entirely on the Carbon V. We use Bock nibs for some models, but our nibs are mostly Jowo. I like them. I understood that kickstarter may open some doors in the new way of selling things now, as for instance in Paris, pen shops, you can count them with the fingers of one hand. So in NY. The commerce is online, purchasing decisions are based on reviews or photos. There are big online retailers now who have a big influence on communities like this one, so, we are still a microscopic company but we want one day to see our Carbon T to make the Lamy CP1 to be less less popular. To start to see this objects to cost what they really should!!!!. I don't like to pay 25 euro for an abs pen......To make the discussion on design in pens, something broader than just a nib, a clip and the color of the barrel. To see a carbon fiber pen not to cost 900 euro, and so on. I also don't understand why very few have contacted our mails to just ask who we're. You'll find an answer. Well, I've talked enough, you can check our campaign, is limited as I said. You're very much welcome. and also, and more important, our site. www.venvstas.com contact@venvstas.com you can also rearch us in facebook and twitter, all the info is in the site. I'm looking forward to know from you in the future, while presenting something in a pen show, in Paris, when we get to open a small showroom, or here, in the net, who knows. Merci!
  23. Dear all, this is my review-like, or, more or less description I should say, as an answer from an user from Poland who asked for any information on this brand, venvstas, The model is called Venvstas Carbon T. It's a pen of the same size of a lamy 2000, but 1cm thick all made in carbon fiber, with a thing they call velvet finish. The texture and the material it reminds me the finish of the Visconti Pininfarina; I had both pens in my hands once, so I can say is the same material. The difference is that the pininfarina is 800 euro, and for this one I've payed 50. Although they are quite different pens. Im attaching some pics of the one I own, a pen that was bought in Paris a couple of years ago in a shop that was not about pens, but about carbon fiber items. For those who're familiar with Paris, or from Paris (I don't live there, but I go often because of my work) this shop was in Le Marais, and last time I went there to take a look for more strange things, the shop/gallery went out of business....nevertheless, this is one of their pens. I do not pretend to do a review quite like most users they do here, as my hand writing is awful, but I can share some pictures that are a bit better to the ones I've used to answer a previous topic. The pen in question is a fountain pen, that uses cartridges, in my case I have it with a schmidt converter. I have contacted the makers in order to have some original information, also I have asked the makers on why there is so little or no presence at all in fountain pen blogs, forums and sites of the like, and the answer was that they are oriented to other type of customers. Maybe this is a mistake, and maybe that's why the pen I got was in a design oriented shop and not in a pen shop. The Carbon T as it's called, has a stainless steel M nib, 5mm feeder; very flexible, and the overall design of it is minimal. i don't write I draw, so I can say, I like to draw with it. The pen is really the most minimal pen I've ever had or seen, it reminds a bit the lamy cp1, but the look, feeling and design is to me superior. Plus, both pens are priced at almost the same price, 48 vs 50. I have no idea if this company is meant to compete with lamy, but, I have to say that the nib is superior, its really a truly flexible nib, and the carbon fiber construction vs the aluminum one, I think to me is nicer, as it's never cold, nevertheless, its a very lightweight pen, it has a stainless steel clip, very small, and the cap can be posted in a very strange way, its somehow inserted inside. A feature I have found interesting; the pen works with a kind of push-pull system to take off the barrel, which proves practical, and so the cap. I can answer any question if somebody ask me on it, plus, I've checked the web site, and I have not seen this model, perhaps it has been discontinued, or who knows. I also recommend to just contact this people, in the web site it's not possible to find it, and I'have never registered this pen on it. Apparently you can register your products, but that's something I never do no matter what. Regards, Jay
