  1. Titanium Ti, Atomic number 22 was discovered by William Gregor in 1791, Cornwall, GB. Martin Heinrich Klaproth a Prussian chemist named it Titanium after Titans (a group of 6 Male and 6 Female Pre Olympian Greek Gods). It was in 1932 William Justin Kroll introduced the Kroll process thus making Titanium available for commercial use. As of 2021, the four leading producers of titanium were China (52%), Japan (24%), Russia (16%) and Kazakhstan (7%). Titanium is known for its high strength to weight ratio making it a strong metal with low density and anti corrosive properties. The melting point for Titanium is 1,668 °C making it one of the hardest material to work with for a FP nib. To the best of my knowledge, Parker after multiple unsuccessful attempts in tipping a Titanium nib came up with the Parker T1, The first Titanium nib pens in 1970 and the limited edition Parker 75 sporting Titanium nibs in the following years. The Parker T1 was discontinued in 1971. Bock is currently the leading manufacturer of tipped Titanium nibs but it’s always a pleasure to see Made in India Ti nibs moving up the ladder.
  2. I bought my fountain pen from Ranga pens. Its an Abhimanyu model in acrylic with a #6 Jowo nib. This pen feels very comfortable in my hand and I'm planning to upgrade it to a titanium nib since I want to try one. As per my limited knowledge Bock is the only supplier of titanium nibs. But I don't know if a bock nib unit will fit into a pen threaded for Jowo nib. I got this doubt because on the website thepenworld.com they have Jowo compatible nib units separately and Bock compatible nib units separately, both made by Kanwrite. So I was wondering if there is difference in them both. Can anyone advice me on that? Is it possible for me to upgrade this pen to a titanium nib or I have to purchase one more with a titanium nib?

    What Is Your Ideal Nib?

What is your ideal nib? Mine would be a EF 21k flex nib with some feedback,lesser-moderate wetness, and preferably No.9 sized. What would a nib like this cost, and are there nibs like this out there?

    Beating A Tired Horse

OK I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseum but it's new to me. I recently purchased a Namisu "Nova" with a stainless steel nib which I like very much. I have been intrigued by the much touted titanium nib so I have ordered an "Orion" with a medium titanium nib. What are the advantages of this nib? I love the design of the Namisu which remind me of the Nakaya Piccolo, Nakaya being my shining star.
  6. How easy is to smooth a nib on a Stipula Davinci Titanium T Carbon T Capless? My Titanium nib is a bit rough. Are Titanium nibs as easy to smooth as a gold nib? If it can be helped, I will bring it with me when I go to the Dallas Pen show and have a Nib Meister work on this nib.
