  1. Here I present the Dantrio Hakkaku with dragon Maki-e and a 18k #6 size stub nib. I don't know anything about this pen other than I bought it in 2017. I've never seen the design on another Danitrio pen. Danitrio does not offer any story or explanation of the artwork. I posted about this pen in the fountain pen review pages back in 2017 but since then I've gained the ability to take good photos so I'm sharing again. Let me know what you think. I could be tricking myself but the tamenuri seems to be changing in a most enjoyable way. The artwork on this pen is rather nice and involved and also makes good use of the space on the pen. _SON4588 by Ja Ja, on Flickr _SON4593 by Ja Ja, on Flickr _SON4597 by Ja Ja, on Flickr _SON4598 by Ja Ja, on Flickr _SON4599 by Ja Ja, on Flickr

    My Urushi Workshop

Hi, A story is quite typical for me. I get interested in something, the idea "cooks" for some time, and then blow and burns. And get another PhD in something, be it building a car, making DYI cosmetics, grinding nibs, and most recently - URUSHI. Instead of writing to much, I'll show some pictures. Below I'll try to explain what is it all about. My journey is being documented on my Instagram account : https://www.instagram.com/tamenuri_boru/ http://gakko.pl/piora/1.jpeg http://gakko.pl/piora/2.jpeg http://gakko.pl/piora/10.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/11.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/12.jpeg http://gakko.pl/piora/15.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/24.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/25.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/8.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/8.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/7.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/6.jpeghttp://gakko.pl/piora/3.jpeg

    Nakaya Info Kuro Tamenuri Finish

I am right now in the market for a Nakaya pen. Specifically the portable writer and I want to get some more information about the finish of the pen before I feel comfortable buying it. The main question I have is really about how the finish looks in person compared to some photos I've seen of it. In some photos it looks really wonderful and black with bright red accents. However sometimes it looks like more of a reddish brown throughout. I was wondering what exactly everyone thought about this finish and how it looks. Pictures would really be helpful. The second thing I want to know is how exactly this ages over time. It says the Kuro Tamenuri finish changes and becomes more colorful over time where the black is worn away and the red becomes more prominent. How much does it change exactly and is it going to wear more where my hands touch? Will I get a strange finger shaped red circles on the grip where I touch it? Again thanks for any and all information!
  4. There are times when pens surprise you and you just have to purchase. This was one of those times for me. I have three or four other Mikado size pens from Danitrio but when I saw this flat top Mikado I had to have it. The flat top shape is new to my collection but that's not what sold me. The tamenuri finish is neigh on perfect. It's radiant and luxurious. The pen feels like a precision instrument, yet, looks like fine art. Something for the left and right sides of the brain. IMG_2760 by Ja Ja, on Flickr IMG_2765 by Ja Ja, on Flickr IMG_2763 by Ja Ja, on Flickr Like all Mikdo pens there is a #8 Bock nib and an ebonite feed. Filling by eyedropper it holds a massive bunch of ink. The blind cap screws down and is almost seamless such is the perfection of the urushi finish. Marked "B" for broad the nib looks and writes like a stub perhaps a bit less wide than a frank Danitrio #8 stub. The confident signature is by Kogaku (Koichiro Okazaki) who also lacquered my freaking perfect shu roiro-migaki Densho. IMG_2764 by Ja Ja, on Flickr IMG_2762 by Ja Ja, on Flickr IMG_2761 by Ja Ja, on Flickr I really considered the recently release Sailor KOP with tamenuri finish. The photos made it look beautiful but this Danitrio makes me happier. I don't know why but Danitrio pens have that effect on me. For extra enjoyment the last photo shows on of my Grand Seiko watches next the pen. The Japanese really know how to treat the senses. IMG_2766 by Ja Ja, on Flickr IMG_2769 by Ja Ja, on Flickr

    Greeting From Japan, Taizo Okagaki

Hello everyone, I am Taizo Okagaki. I am from Japan. It’s nice to meet all fountain pen lovers like me in Fountain Pen Network. I used fountain pens since I was in middle high school. The more I use fountain pen, the more I love this amazing writing instrument. I have a brand named Wancher. With Wancher, I want to make my dream come true which is: Making a fountain pen which can make people happy and with this pen I want to bring people together. I have not fulfilled my dream yet and I am working hard to make it come true. Along with Wancher, I also have an online store named Engeika. By Engeika, I want to connect with many more customers in the world, to know more about their life, their dream and their desired pen. And today, with my friend’s recommendation, I joined Fountain Pen Network. I am very glad to meet all of you. Sincerely, Taizo Okagaki

Nakaya Order Arrived At The Sakura Fp Gallery

I just opened my Christmas package .... Twenty-four fresh Nakaya's are waiting in the Sakura Fountain Pen's drawer to make somebody happy ! Merry Christmas to you all ! Catherine Special note : Another package arrived from Japan. With some other pens. And not Nakaya ... I'll reveal them soon !
  7. I just picked up a Danitrio Hakkaku Tame-nuri (Octagon with the ren urushi) that has a stub nib. I have not inked it yet and I am looking for recommendations for a suitable ink. I'd like something with a vibrant color but that is safe for the pen. I am not a fan of black or standard blue colors. I have some of the Montblanc Leonardo chalk ink that I was thinking of using. Another option is a Visconti bordeaux. I look forward to your recommendations.
  8. Has anyone ever seen a Nakaya Kuro, Aka, Heki, Shiro-tamenuri (black-red, reddish-red, brown-green, white) side by side pic? If so, please share. I realize that the beauty of the urushi finish results in variability, but I believe a side by side picture of 3 or 4 of the colors with the same lighting would be helpful.
