    St Dupont Fidelio Sterling Cap

Hello everyone, I just bought this St Dupont Fidelio Sterling Silver cap FP BP set
  3. My great-grandmother gave me this set a few years ago and am trying to find a matching fountain pen to purchase. The issue is, I don’t know the model name. If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it! Thank you in advance, William
  4. This is more an example of the strange things my mind comes up with late at night... I don't expect the thread to live very long. I'm pretty sure most of us are familiar with how Colorverse creates series with six boxed sets, each set having a large "snail" and a small "snail" of ink, often different colors or if the same color the smaller one may be a glitter ink. My mind came up with a Hasbro licensed series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic -- The Mane 6 {You can understand why I say "five years too late" as the series finale was last fall, and that was season 9, so going back 5 years would put one into season 4, middle of the run} I see the large snail as being the primary character color (with one exception) and the small bottle being the eye color {character | large | small -- generic colors, I'm not going to try to pick out existing inks for formal names} Applejack | muted Orange | GreenPinkie Pie | Pink | CyanFluttershy | muted Yellow (avoid highlighter shade) | Cyan-GreenRainbow Dash | bluish Cyan | MagentaRarity | Violet (I don't think a nano-particle titanium white pigment ink would fly, so this is the mane color) | BlueTwilight Sparkle | floral Lavender | deep Lavender (maybe with glitter) My first nightmare thoughts had been for body color / mane color -- but Applejack's straw yellow would be practically unseeable, we'd have had two shades of pink for Pinkie, along with a third pink for Fluttershy, two shades of violet for Rarity (maybe glitter for the mane highlight shade), and since we don't have inks that separate into a spectrum Rainbow Dash would likely require a pale yellow-green with a rainbow of glitter particles, Twilight would get the magenta skunk stripe. Probably wouldn't have been a high seller -- the show's target demographic is likely still using crayons.

What Kind Of Duofold Is This?

Can anyone help me correctly identify this pen which was given to me by a friend? I have offered to give him some money for a charity donation in return. My usual pens are Japanese modern FP's so I am a bit out of my depth, although this one does write rather nicely. The set is in a wooden box with Parker Duofold stamped on the top and is a white-marble resin patterned fountain pen and matching biro. The FP is a cartridge filler (unfortunately and 13.6 cm long including cap, M nib is labelled PARKER 18 750, the black cap has PARKER MADE IN UK in small writing. My guess from conversation was purchased around or before 1990 in the UK but this could be wrong. http://www.zen101388.zen.co.uk/20190601_132702.jpg Maybe a Duofold Centennial or and International? I have googled a bit but struggling to confidently identify it. Full disclosure, I did post a similar (but not a cut and paste job) question on FPGeeks, hope this is OK, I wrote this one as this forum seems a bit more lively and I have been a member of both for some time... the thread is here Sorry for the huge pictures but at least you get the detail! http://www.zen101388.zen.co.uk/20190525_105138.jpg Thanks for your help, I do have more pictures if anyone wants to see them. Waterman Drawing Set Recognition

Hello to all of you! I'm from Poland. I'm new here, and i would like to find some information about this stuff. While cleaning the basement i've found box with pencilcases on the photos. I have 5 of them sealed and one was slightly damaged. There are mathematical instruments as on photos. Do you know something about them? When they were made, sold, or are they valuable? Thanks for all the answers

    Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 Set Value?

Hello. I recently got my hands on a complete Meisterstuck 146 set (Fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil, all black with gold trim) and was wondering: about how much is the whole set worth? They've all been used before but are in nearly mint condition (though the boxes for the ballpoint and mechanical pencil are missing). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Hello. 11. So I was going through my father's desk at his office on the occasion of his retirement and found this set. I cleaned it and inked it up with one of the nib units that isn't cracked (3 of 5 are, I might tape them and try them anyway, don't know if they will just leak everywhere) and I have a couple of questions. The pen cape doesn't meet the body when screwed on, might there be a missing ferrule or metal ring? And, The set is left-foot oblique, but labeled "left-handed" although I am a righty. I can write with it just fine since I have a tendency to rotate my pens counterclockwise anyway, but then I get really funky lettering because the fattest part of the line is at the horizontal, and the skinniest at the vertical. You can see the result in my handwriting sample. So, if I don't rotate, the nib doesn't work at all, and if I do rotate, I get weirdness. Any suggestions?
  12. hi, can anybody help me with this dupont pen set? i inherited it from my aunt and searched on google but i didn't find this model! thanks a lot for your support. best kai
  13. I am just beginning research on this MB Dumas Autograph Set and have been over to fountainpen.de which is typically a good first stop on the journey of discovery. They mention that it is known to be a rare set in its own right, but not much beyond that. They have a link to more information, however the link is dead. (I will notify the site.) I would really like to know why MB decided to create an Autograph set which I have to say is really nice. I like the "handwritten" note, and photo as well as the larger book box that contains all the pieces of the collection. I am sure the "handwritten" note is a facsimile, but I must concede it is a very good one that must have taken some effort to create. Linen, watermarked, antiqued or antique paper, same with the ink, and so forth. I am sure it was not inexpensive to fabricate. Could someone point me to any resources that might shed some light on this set? My Compliments!
  14. Dear Community, Just a week ago, while cleanig up our inherited attic, we found this Elysée treasure: It obviously is an original, complete Élysée sales presentation case in absolut mint condition! This beautiful, flawless set contains 24 ready-for-use writing instruments (fountain pens, ballpoint pens, pencils and rollerball pens) in perfect functional condition! Just one fountain pen was used for testings. In addition, there are 2 liquid ink cartridges, 2 ballpoint, 3 pencil and 5 rollerball spares refills, 5 nib spares and 3 pen tip spares....and an original Élysée writing pad! According to a reference to R. Dummert GmbH & Co. KG, Pforzheim, West-Germany, this must be a pre-Staedtler i.e. a pre-1992 sales presentation set. That is all we could find out ourselves! Now to my question: With the exception of the 60 series WORLD MAP models, I could not find any of these slim and beautiful Élisée models in the internet! Does anybody know the shown Élysée writing instrument types/models e.g. name, year etc? We, the family, would be very grateful for any respective feedback on our exeptional finding! Thank you very much, indeed, Conrad -Switzerland

Parker Gift Sets! For Grads Or Dads!

If you're scrambling for a last minute gift for a Grad or Dad in your life then have a look at our fresh new stock of Parker pen sets. Parker is well established internationally as one of the forefathers of the modern fountain pen. Parker's have become so ubiquitous in the pen world that many "pen standards" have been set based on how Parker did it at first (a Parker-style ballpoint refill is extremely easy to find and will fit into ballpoints from many pen companies). While Parker is still making classic, low-key pens, what many people don't know is that they have a stellar selection of pens mixing modern with classic. It's these unique combinations that make a pen a pleasure to use and others take note. Pen Boutique has 4 newly-introduced pen sets all of which are stellar gifts (for yourself or others) that feature gorgeous pens. PackagingAll of the sets come in gorgeous gift boxes with a dark brass and gold colored box. The interior of the boxes is a tan velveteen with a brass-colored embossing of the Parker name and logo. The attention to detail in packaging perfectly reflects the sleek, modern pens that are stored inside of them. Read on about the specific sets that Pen Boutique is now offering: Parker IM Ballpoint and Fountain Pen Set in Brushed Metal This is a set of 2 pens from the Parker's IM line -- a ball point and a fountain pen in a brushed metal finish. The pen appointments are a glossy chrome finish and of course the clip is the iconic Cross-arrow. The IM pens are an incredible value. Due to the metal body they have a great weight to them and a really modern look. The ballpoint performs just as you would expect from a Parker pen-- dependable and lovely flow. Same with the fountain pen in the set. The flow is smooth and reliable. It comes with one blue ink cartridge and will accept a Parker converter. This pen/these pens would be good for people who are: -looking for a pen that will match most any outfit (including Mad Men costumes or wedding dresses)-just starting at a professional job -interested in dabbling in fountain pens-into pens on the heavier side or made of metal-want to switch between a ballpoint and fountain pen Parker Sonnet Ballpoint and Case Set in Pearl Lacquer Classy and sleek, this Parker ivory ballpoint is a timeless accessory bound to become a family heirloom. The Parker Sonnet is reminiscent of a 1950's movie star-- a silky, pearlescent white, bordering on cream, with rose-gold colored appointments. Not only is it gorgeous, but it writes well and dependably. For those that carry their pens in pocketbooks or bags, there is a tan, leatherette pen pouch that will perfectly fit the Sonnet ballpoint or any other pen in similar size. This pen/these pens would be good for people who: -love classic Hollywood movies-want a classic pen that will never go out of style-like rose-gold and/or accessories that are white (think: IPhone) Parker Sonnet Fountain Pen with Secret Shelf Full disclosure -- when we received this set into the store, a few Pen Boutique employees gathered around and took turns merely opening and closing the case. This "Secret Shelf" set has a very impressive, kinaesthetic packaging design-- when the case is opened, a small drawer is slowly emerges from the front side of the box to reveal the Sonnet fountain pen. Still, the pen is the Headliner of the show-- subtle and dark upon first glance, but when opened, the nib and patterned "section" are fresh and unique. The pen comes with a taupe, letherette-covered notebook with a friction-fit belt. The Sonnet fountain pen and other pens of similar size, will fit perfectly in the protective spine of the notebook which makes for easy transporting. The paper is replaceable with other Parker notebooks and 5.75 x 4" -sized notebooks. This pen/these pens would be good for people who:-love fountain pens that look classic with a slight twist-enjoy pens with metal bodies and heavier feel-are looking for a convenient notebook to use daily with their new pen-suckers for awesome product presentation and boxes Parker Sonnet Black Ballpoint and Red Notebook Set The box looks like it would contain luxurious chocolates, but when you open it, it actually reveals a classic Parker ballpoint and a vivid red notebook with a small pen loop. The pen is a Sonnet ballpoint-- well known as a workhorse of the workplace. The surface is a matte, pebbled black with silver appointments. The pebbled surface allows for better grip when held in a sweaty hand. This is a great, practical gift for a professional. Unknown Vintage Pelikan

Few days ago, I acquired an unknown vintage Pelikan fountain pen. Now I don't know much about it (I have had hard times identifying since it has only "PELIKAN" and "GERMANY" engraved on the cap), but I am sure it is not a part of the famous M series. Furthermore, I believe that is a vintage since I can not find it any new Pelikan catalog. The nib is silver in color, and it has engraved "585" and "14C" on it, but it misses the pelikan logo engraved on it (also, I am not sure if the nib is made of gold, or just gilded). It has a black body and a silver cap. The pelikan logo is engraved on the top of the cap. I believe it is never used. If it helps in identifying its age, with this fountain pen I acquired a ball pen as well (basically the same model) and the mine of the BP is a Pelikan 137 M. They came in a set, so I guess they should have been produced in the same period. Any feedback and information would be very much appreciated.
  22. The first gold pen I bought was a Sailor 1911S. Because I am interested in matching pen and pencil sets, I went looking for a 1911 pencil. I found one, but for some reason its design was never updated, so it matches the old-style 1911 pen, not the new one. For those who may not know, Sailor at some point-- I’m not sure when—redesigned its popular 1911 line. The 1911 used to have a simpler nib engraving, a gold-plated ring at the bottom of the section instead of the top of the section as the current pens, and only one cap band as opposed to the two of current pens. Also, the color of the gold fittings was paler before the redesign; afterwards, the gold became yellower. I was quite surprised to find that the pencil matched the old pen, with one cap band and pale gold fittings. The ballpoint, which I also bought, was in the same way. Of course, then I had to go hunt down the correct vintage 1911 fountain pen. If my resume says I’m “detail oriented,” you know now it’s true. Anyway, these old pens are not often found in the United States, but I eventually found an old-style 1911L offered by a Japanese seller on a famous auction site, and with a few well-timed clicks my set was complete. I also bought a Sailor three-pen case because, at this point, why not? There are plenty of Sailor 1911 reviews on this Forum, but I don’t think any are for the old-style pen, or the matching pencil and ballpoint. So, here we go. Please excuse my utilitarian photography; I only have a simple point-and-shoot camera (and wouldn’t know how to use a DSLR if one descended from heaven into my lap anyway). Here we see the closed pen case. It’s called the Sailor Imperial Black case or something macho like that, but it strikes me as rather feminine: despite its nylon and leather (?) construction and black metal fittings, it sort of looks like a makeup case. 1 Case Closed by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The case actually closes with magnetic buttons, as you can see. The buckles are purely decorative. 2 Case Open by Jacob Marks, on Flickr 3 Case Open Flap Open by Jacob Marks, on Flickr 4 Decorative Buckles by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The case is mostly of nylon, with piping and details in leather or a leather-like material. For the price, I hope it’s leather. 5 Lining by Jacob Marks, on Flickr 6 Logo detail by Jacob Marks, on Flickr There is a little slot for holding spare cartridges. I use bottled ink, but have some cartridges stowed there for an emergency—though it would be an odd emergency indeed that required them. 7 Cart Storage Detail by Jacob Marks, on Flickr Here is our redoubtable trio of writing instruments. I call them Athos, Porthos, and Steve. 8 Pens Overview by Jacob Marks, on Flickr First, the fountain pen. Capped, it has a classic appearance. Its resemblance to Montblanc’s 146 is often noted. 9 Fountain Pen Capped by Jacob Marks, on Flickr It seems the pen is intended to be posted. It posts securely although the lines are not as clean as I would like. 10 Fountain Pen Posted by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The end of the barrel has a false blind cap. The ring, like the buckles on the case, is purely decorative. 10-2 False Blind Cap by Jacob Marks, on Flickr On to the business end. The nib has a simple design which I much prefer to the current one. The new nibs are quite busy and owe too much to that aforementioned German manufacturer. Unlike the current 1911L nibs, which to my knowledge are all 21k, this is a 14k nib. Some people consider 14k to be the best alloy for nibs because of its elasticity, with higher-karat nibs being too soft. That sort of thing is beyond my expertise. I’m more of liberal arts kind of guy. On the other hand, the redesign eliminates the ring at the bottom of the section, which is said to be a magnet for corrosion. This one seems to be in fine shape, though. 11 Nib Front 1 by Jacob Marks, on Flickr This nib is marked H-M. My guess is that stands for hard medium. The nib is not flexible or semi-flexible or even hemi-demi-semi-flexible, but neither is it rigid. It has some give. I would call it firm. To the disappointment of the spammers who fill my email inbox, I’m perfectly satisfied by how firm my pen is. 12 side nib by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The feed is a typical finned black plastic affair. 13 Feed by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The writing tip is smooth enough, and certainly a medium. Not interesting, but not bad. 14 Writing Surface by Jacob Marks, on Flickr As you can see, the cap only has one band. It screws on with the pleasant soft stop peculiar to Sailor. The clip is attached to the cap below the ring, which keeps it from spinning around but looks weird to me. I prefer Montblanc clips: the clip is attached to the ring, and a tab on the inside keeps it from spinning. Nonetheless, this is an effective clip, not too tight and not too loose. 15 Cap overview by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The cap band says “Sailor Japan Founded 1911,” just like current pens. There seems to be some dried adhesive oozing out from behind the band. 16 Cap Band Detail by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The pen fills with a Sailor cartridge/converter system. Though the ink capacity is modest, the pen writes fairly dry and so does not exhaust its supply too quickly. 18 Filling by Jacob Marks, on Flickr Now for the ballpoint. It’s twist action, and looks a lot like the Montblanc 164 Classique ballpoint. The Sailor is smaller, lighter, and compares unfavorably to the 164 in every way except price. However, since the Montblanc is something like eight or nine times the cost of the Sailor, this is to be expected. It takes, of course, a proprietary Sailor refill, which is not readily available at stores in the States. I prefer the Fine black Sailor refill to the Fine black Parker Quinkflow refill that lives in my Jotter Flighter. Sailor’s is smoother and starts up better. 19 Ballpoint Overview by Jacob Marks, on Flickr 20 Ballpoint nib closeup cropped by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The end cap is not perfectly flush with the rest of the cap. It’s slightly smaller in diameter. Weird. The pencil does not share this defect. 21 Ballpoint ridge by Jacob Marks, on Flickr Speaking of the pencil, here it is. The lead advances when you push the top. It’s the same size and weight as the ballpoint. 22 Pencil Overview by Jacob Marks, on Flickr The top screws off to reveal the eraser. 23 Pencil Open by Jacob Marks, on Flickr It writes, of course, like any mechanical pencil should. 24 Pencil Tip Closeup by Jacob Marks, on Flickr Finally, here’s the goal of the venture, a writing sample of the fountain pen. The pencil and ballpoint are, well, a pencil and a ballpoint. 25 Sailor 1911L Writing Sample by Jacob Marks, on Flickr Final thoughts: I really wanted to love this set because I went to some trouble to assemble it, and because I love actually sailing. Unfortunately, when I handle these writing instruments, the words that come into my mind are not “awesome” and “amazing” but rather “acceptable” and “okay.” They are well-made and hard-working, but I want to be wowed, and these just don’t do that. The firm medium nib is useable not exciting, and I can’t use the pen in public without someone asking “Is that a Montblanc?” Answering “Actually it’s a Sailor, a Japanese pen that just happens to look suspiciously like a Montblanc” gets a bit tiresome quickly. Maybe one day I will get one of Sailor’s crazy specialty nibs and change my mind—although the old nib pattern is one of the coolest things about the pen. I hope this review was helpful to anyone considering a vintage Sailor 1911. Your questions and comments are welcome.
  23. Can anyone help me identify this Kaweco Fountain Pen (piston Filler) and Mechanical Pencil Set? It appears to be of high quality. There are no model markings on either. The nib is 585 14K and at bottom of cap on each is: 1/20 14K Gold Filled Thanks, Michael Little Phoenix, Arizona

    Letter Set

Maybe it was discussed before, but I couldn't find it. Could you recommend me letter set (envelope and paper). I Google it, but most letter sets are for children, more suitable one does not have enough information about paper quality. What I am looking for is more "classic" set. Envelope should not be too big (9 x 13 cm would be ideal). Paper should be smooth and suitable for writing with fountain or dip pen. Thank you!
  25. Recently I bought a calligraphy pen set that is not identified (link below). Can anyone tell me the manufacturer along with any comments you may have? Thanks!
