  1. Just the other day, I had the idea for an ink that could be written with normally, but then automatically fade away completely within a certain short time frame, like 24 hours or so. Since then, I have searched the internet a bit and determined that it is possible to make, and even found videos on how to make it yourself and novelty items using the concept. Of course, making colored water that can turn clear because of a chemical reaction is just not the same as having an ink that is truly fountain pen viable, which is what I would be using it for. Because of that, it would be so great to find any ink maker/company interested in the concept (Noodler's springs to mind), or at least find someone who's tried making and writing with it. What possible uses could this ink have? I'll try and name a few, but it would be helpful if anyone offers any more ideas. reusing the same paper like a cheapskatewriting in a journal without being self-conscious (the idea that sparked my interest)general security purposesmessing around and having funfooling and tricking people you likefooling and tricking people you don't like Just to help, here are several notable links I found while searching: http://www.howcast.com/videos/281379-How-to-Make-Disappearing-Ink http://chemistry.about.com/od/demonstrationsexperiments/ss/disappearink.htmhttp://www.thinkgeek.com/product/bf21/http://www.amazon.com/Fun-Express-25-90-Disappearing/dp/B009T9JJSM
  2. I live in Northern Virginia, near Washington DC. I am going to Canada for my Summer break. My trip to Canada lasts 7 days, so I should bring 7 pens! Let me see... my top 7 pens (not necessarily the most expensive) I'm may bring Parker Sonnet black Parker 75 gold Parker 51 Another Parker 51 (different color) Parker 180 Montblanc Meisterstuck Classique Pilot Varsity black inkFor ink, let me see... something not too expensive Waterman Serenity Blue Parker Quink black cartridge (just in case) Paradise Pen Company ink black (I don't like black, but in case I need it) Noodler's ink (I'm still thinking whether to buy or not) 5th?! The list above is all the inks I have. Are you allowed to bring ink bottles to a plane? Ink cartridges? Ink bottles are fragile, so I am going to carry it with me inside the plane. Do you think those airport security guys will take my ink bottles/cartridges away? -William S. Park P.S.: My inks are too attractive (like many other ink bottles) to be safely taken inside a plane. It might distract the pilot.

    Ebay Hacked!

Dunno if this is common knowledge by now but I just saw it in the NYTimes and thought I would pass it on: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/22/technology/ebay-reports-attack-on-its-computer-network.html?hp
  4. Has anyone had an issue with carrying a fountain pen through airport security? I haven't bothered trying, I don't want to lose an expensive pen, let alone my favourite writing instrument because someone in security decides that my metal pen constitutes a dangerous weapon on par with knitting needles! Also, has anyone had an issue coming back into the country and being accused of trying to smuggle a high end fountain pen in without paying duties? I do know a couple of people who faced that with their camera and now carry around a little green card with the serial number on it, stamped by customs officials, that proves the camera/lens was bought in Canada. Maybe I'm being excessively cautious, but I don't' want to risk it. I have to admit, though, that when I'm sitting in a meeting taking notes I miss my pen.
  5. I presume that some of you have purchased from the Omas Society. I wondered if the method of using credit card but having to send a copy of both sides, is considered to be secure or safe. Please let me know your thoughts and/or experiences. (Note to Moderators: please move this to a more appropriate forum if necessary.)
