  1. I know this may sound odd, but is there anyway to identify what model of converter I have? I have a number laying around, and some are standard, some are proprietary, some hold more ink, some less... I don't want to mess up a pen by putting a standard IC in a pen that only takes proprietary ones or vice versa. I can't seem to find markings on the converters themselves. These days, I'm wiser and label all proprietary converters with their brand name. I wasn't always so smart. Thanks.
  2. Hello, I just got my first flex pen: a Waterman 52 1/2V. I love writing with the flexible nib but I am having usage/maintenance issues (which is perhaps compounded by the 52 1/2V's small size!) I have some questions that I would appreciate any help or thoughts on. 1) I have to dip my pen past the nib for and onto the body of the pen itself to suck the ink up properly. I will not be able to suck up any ink if I only dip the tip of the nib in. Is this normal? Can it be fixed? 2) Is there any way to see or know how full the pen is? I'm thinking about weighing it on a foodscale and I'm wondering if there's a different way.
  3. Hi everyone! I have a problem with one of my favorite pens. Every time I refill the converter with ink it writes way too wet (feathers and bleeds through a lot) for a few pages before becoming just write for the remainder of the ink in the converter (it's a piston "twist" converter). I know about pushing a few drops out of the converter after filling and I have experimented with it, but there's no amount of ink I can let out that seems to fix this problem for me. I have also tried to fix the problem by thoroughly cleaning the nib and feed letting them soak in dish soap and rinsing multiple times, but to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thank you all in advance!
  4. Dear all, I have a Montblanc Rollerball that I want to refill with my own ink (for more color variety, and to use other inks besides Montblanc's inks, as well as use up my stock of ink.. I have too much). I looked online and saw tutorials on how to do so. Pop the tail cap off the Refill, pour ink in, pop cap back on. Easy right? However, my issue pertains to cleaning. Because I would like to change the ink color (originally black). I ran water through the cartridge and after a while it ran clear. But I left it for an hour or so to dry, came back, and flicked it, and got lots of ink coming out again. I figured since the cartridge was old it had some dried up. So I soaked it in water for 3 days. Each day I changed the water and flicked water out of the cartridge. There is always some residual black ink leftover. I noticed that the inside has a piece of felt. Although I don't have tweezers so I couldn't pull it out, I was wondering if the best way was to pull this felt out and clean it out before cleaning the metal cartridge or if there was a more efficient way of doing this. Or should I just not bother with changing ink colors?? Thanks all in advance!
  5. My Pilot Metropolitan came with a cartridge, now clean, dry and empty – except for one thing: a tiny black plastic something inside it. Perhaps it was a sealer, but I didn't really notice when I first used it. Can I just pry this out with a toothpick, or is it a necessary part of the cartridge that got dislodged. Is my cartridge now useless? Picture attached. Not great quality but gives idea. Thanks for help. This site is invaluable.
  6. How much ink your Jinhao x750 holds? Mine is not holding too much and i can see teh inks does not "fill the tank". Could it be that the converter is not tightly sealed? Or is the level OK? For a big pen, it holds too little.
