  1. My latest ink is Diamine Burnt Sienna I decided to try Diamine Burnt Sienna immediately after trying Ochre because I thought they were similar colours. Burnt Sienna has more red in it and would fit into the reddish browns group along with Diamine Terracotta and Montblanc Leonardo. It's less saturated than Ochre and is wetter, so it takes longer to dry. It wrote straight away without any hard starts or skipping. It lubricated the nib very well, and the flow felt slightly wet. It's a quite water resistant ink. Not as water resistant as Ochre. I could still see all of the writing, even after over 30 minutes, and though I blotted my water test with a piece of kitchen roll, the ink dots in the centre of the water test were still legible. Although this isn't a waterproof ink, it shows very good water resistance, as do many inks in this colour range.Bearing in mind the paper I use is thick with a shiny surface, and I used a Lamy M nib and a 1.1mm nib, this ink took 17-20 secs to dry.It felt a little wetter than some other inks I've reviewed, but still flowed and lubricated the nib well. I saw no skips or hard starts while I did swabs and dry time tests. It is currently available in 80ml glass bottles or 30ml plastic bottlesDiamine sell it directly to end-users on their web-site.It's a reasonable price.
  2. My latest ink is Diamine Rustic Brown I decided to get Diamine Rustic Brown because I like my brown inks to be reddish browns. I wasn't disappointed with this one. It's definitely a good reddish brown colour. In fact it was almost a deep burgundy in bright daylight. It was writing quite wet for me in my Lamy Safari. In fact I had to check the nib tip width because I thought it was writing more like a M. It writes very smoothly and makes my Safari feel well lubricated. I really liked it. Although it stained my fingers, it washed off in the shower. No problems with clean up in the Lamy converter either. Although this isn't a waterproof ink, it shows good water resistance, as do most Diamine brown inks.Bearing in mind the paper I use is thick with a shiny surface, and I used a Lamy F nib, this ink took 12-15 secs to dry. That's quick on this paper. It flows through the pen very well and lubricates the nib very well. I saw no skips or hard starts while I did swabs and dry time tests. It is currently available in 80ml glass bottles, 30ml plastic refill bottles or International sized cartridges.Diamine sell it directly to end-users on their web-site.It's a reasonable price.
  3. Allied Forces Germany- Framerica / De Atramentis Wilhelm 2 - Waterman Havana http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/20150507_093138_zpsj83jzcub.jpg You read the title and think.... What a silly pillock that Morbus Curiositas is There is no country named Framerica... ...Well you are partially right.... There isno country named Framerica ... But Waterman was founded in America and is now produced in France (l' Homme d'eau???) and is part of the American Newell Rubberdoll company... Who cares..... Let's role! De Atramentis Wilhelm 2 - Waterman I did a review of De Atramentis Wilhelm 2 yesterday and had a déjà vu... http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/colour%20comp%20fpn_zps6ygn81yv.jpg Well don't know but I see similarities... But maybe I need new glasses or even worse I need to see a neurologist because I have a loose contact (er eh a new one ) that interferes my cognition.... Maybe you could help here.... will insert some side to side comparisons here and leave the judgment upto you....In the end you may decide... Blow my nose with ink comparison http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20blow%20my%20nose%20comparrison_zpsgwm9stkq.jpg Ink Vomitus comparison http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20vomit%20comparison_zpsg1qlvgiq.jpg Both inks have a red brown volour. In daylight the Wilhelm 2 has a bit more (wine?) red and Havana tends to a rust brown, a bit darker than ordinary iron rust though. But that is in larger "surfaces" like above.... How is that in written text.... Let's see Handwritten text comparisons http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20handwritten%20text%20comparison_zpsvbgsch0f.jpg Left is Wilhelm 2 and right is Havana both text were taken from the succesive reviews http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20samplertext%20comparison_zpsr3ry3q1p.jpg This is a close up from the Havana sampler form (see down here) http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20sampler%20comparison_zpsjb1cqte4.jpg Ink Behaviour Both inks are smooth. Both inks are wet but the Wilhelm 2 is wetter... De Atramentis inks usually are. Both inks dry quickly and the De Atramentis ink even faster. Both inks only show little shading but this is compensated by the high sauration resultign in rich and deep colours. Feathering is absent in both inks... the De Atramentis shows just a very little more showthrough but in both case this isn't an issue the reason For more showthrough might be this: http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20Cousteau%20comparison_zpsba51mtcw.jpg After half an hour underwater. The De Atramentis ink lost it's colour but the text is still legible.... The Waterman ink dissapeared quicker than your saving after the 2008 Bank crisis.... That might be the reason why the Wilhelm 2 shows a very little more showthrough.... This in my opinion does not make the Waterman less, good remember both inks were not designed to be waterproof. The Wilhelm 2 is therefore maybe even more suited for use at work... Ink sampler comparison http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20sampler%20comparison_zpsjb1cqte4.jpg Availability Waterman Havana This is one of those inks that is even available on the moon, simply hijack a passing space craft.... Both inks have a lovely warm and deep rich red brown colour. Wilhelm 2 is a tad more red and Havana a little more brownish..... In written test this difference is minimum though... Since they both behave well and I the colours which are descent enough for everyday use but stil distinctive and elegant...
