  1. http://kobe-nagasawa.co.jp/originalitems/fountainpen/hatobarealo-rouge-2/ I believe this is the 3rd pen released by Nagasawa Pens commemorating the Port of Kobe 150th anniversary. Unlike the previous 2 pens which is basically blue-color based, this one is red and black combination, with the steering wheel mark on top of the cap.
  2. I'm starting to think that my current grail pen might be a Sailor Pro Gear Realo with a Naginata Togi or Naginata Emperor. I've been driving myself a bit batty researching said pen, so here are a few questions that are bugging me: * Is the Realo a true piston filler just with a small ink capacity or is it a captive converter? I've seen it variously claimed to be either...the former's fine, I don't especially care about ink capacity and really like non-c/c filling systems. If it's a captive converter, though, I figure I might as well go with a c/c model. * Would it be prudent for someone who's never used a nice Sailor nib to skip straight to the Naginata series, or should I try out the normal 21kt nibs first?
  3. I received a new burgundy Sailor Realo (Professional Gear shape) from a Japanese ebay seller today. All seems as it should be, but for a difference to the anchor logo on top of the cap. The first of the two pictures below is of the anchor logo on the cap of a Sailor Professional Gear Kanreki purchased earlier this year. It is the same style and material (gold-plated brass, per nibs.com) that I've seen on all my other Sailors with cap logos and in pictures. The second picture is of the cap logo of the new Realo. It does seem to be on a little disc cut into the cap top, but otherwise is obviously different than the other logo. It doesn't have the black background that the other logos are set against; more importantly, it is entirely flat. The traditional logo is like an actual little anchor; it has texture and you can see it from the side. The one on the Realo might be painted on. However it is put on, it strikes me as obviously inferior in make and style. I might go as far as to call it kind of cheesy looking. Can anyone confirm this is the new style for the Realos (and Pro Gears)? If it isn't, how suspicious should I be? Again, everything else about the pen (and box/papers) appears to be right. Thanks.

    Sailor Realo Disassembly & Maintenance

Good morning, I am considering purshasing a Sailor Pro Gear REALO piston filler. I haven't found anywhere instructions for the disassembly of the piston mechanism, nor how easy it is to clean the reservoir. Any help, video, link or testimony would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  5. Soo I have been on something of a japanese pen kick lately and expanded collection of Pilot pens but have always serious considered getting some more sailors as well. Now, considering that you can import them for a materially less amount of money than you would buying them in the USA market, I am a bit worried about getting service for and the long term reliability of the realo piston filler. I am also curious as to what exactly my options are if the piston filler ever needs a servicing... which is why I am kind of leaning towards C/C versions of the Pro-Gear 2. I know that in the past few years, Sailor has removed their product lines from a great many USA retailers and while I don't think the pen will need an in-warranty servicing, I am concerned with long term repair ... I am not buying a 200 pen for it to turn into a dip pen in 10 years because the Piston filler stopped working lol. So to be more helpful for those who like straight to the point questions: 1 - What is the reliability of the Realo piston filler? 2 - What is the service situation like for owners of Sailor Pens that have been imported and need out of warranty servicing? 3 - Do you think the Realo is really worth it over the C/C? Ink capacity is not a big deal to me. I just enjoy the piston filler experience and own a great many of them.
